I'm hesitant to support our soldiers because 1) they CHOSE to be there, and 2) I don't agree with the war, I don't think it has anything to do with our freedom

  1. The war is immoral and illegal. They should not be there and to support the troops is supporting an immoral and illegal war.

  2. It has everything to do with our freedom. Do you like posting these questions ? It is because we are free. Support the troops regardless of your political views.

  3. They did come over here and kill us and say they don't like the way we live.

Al Qaeda...who we are currently fighting. That war against Saddam was over years ago.

  4. Support the troops not the war.

  5. It doesen't really, but you should still support them, just because they ARE trying to do good for the people in Iraq (even if they aren't)

  6. The war has nothing to do with our freedom but everything to do with Israeli security.

  7. Most of the CHOSE to be in the military, not to go fight in this senseless war. I'm sure many of them would not have joined if they had known they would be spending years in a tireless war.

  8. I agree with your stance on the war, but don't take it out on the soldiers.

Many of them are from the National Guard and never dreamed they'd be deployed in Iraq.

Support the soldiers, oppose the war.

  9. i agree entirely.

  10. Either you go after the terrorist now or you are going to have a much bigger problem later. TRUST ME

  11. no, i mean fighting for the freedom will be fitting the banks as they can make the law, and the patriot act that takes away your freedoms

  12. it doesnt have anything to do with our freedom, but u should support them because really, its not their chioce to be there. people seem to get confuse when it comes to supporting the war. they feel if they dont support the war then they are not supporting the troops, in reality, u can supoort one and not the other. i support our troops for having to be over there, but i hate the war and this government, but i love this country. you see what i mean? this war was started on fear and lies and we are not going after the right people, iraq had nothing to do with sept 11, but this government wants us to think they do, and most people dont take the time to do some research for themselves. its time americans start thinking for themselves.

  13. Ya know...I'm in the Army myself & I DON'T want to go to Iraq..and don't think we should be there. When most of our soldiers signed up they didn't think to say..."I WANT to go to Iraq & fight for freedom  Yaaaay!".

When we sign we think about how we can't get a good enough job for our family, so we sign because the Army has all these GREAT benefits & housing for our families....If a Soldier is single they sign up because their life was really going nowhere & have to do SOMETHING to jump start their life.

Sure there are a few Soldiers that CHOOSE to go to Iraq because when you get deployed you get more money..Much MORE!

But other soldiers are smarter & choose their own Life over money......It's a real shame we have to fight over c**p that most of the time don't make sense.....WWI, WWII & the Korean War I could understand...even Desert Storm. But This war right now is just dragging out for no reason...We did our job & now it's time for us to leave and give the people back their country...

  14. First of all, our troops deserve to be supported whether you support the war or not. They are heroes in many peoples' eyes. It's your right to disagree with the war, but maybe you should reexamine our purpose there. The invasion is still controversial, but we're there, so let's win. It has to do with our freedom because we are fighting the same terrorists organizations that are constantly plotting attacks against the free world. If it were up to bin Laden and friends, America and our way of life would be destroyed. We cannot afford for the fight to come to us. We must go to the source of the problem and solve it. And if that's not motivation enough, think about the fact that our success in Iraq affects peace, democracy, and the lives of tens of millions of innocent people in the Middle East.

  15. they choose to work to survive(bills, food etc..) going to Iraq is just in their job description

the war is necessary to relieve pressure on the world so it doesn't go nuclear

I'd rather be in america than stoned to death in some Muslim nation

  16. I choose to support our soldiers because 1) they CHOSE to risk their lives for our defense, and 2) I don't agree with the war, but there's no un-invading.  We are obligated to provide for the security and defense of Iraq until the new Iraqi military and police forces are able to take over those responsibilities.  Why?  Because we dismantled their old forces.

  17. Your confusing the war in Iraq, with suporting the Soldiers,Marines, Airmen and Sailors who protect America.

You cannot say, well I support the military thats not in iraq, but don't support the ones in iraq.

When you join the military, you go where your sent.

  18. Has nothing to do with freedom? NO? Remember 9/11? You know they trained in Afghanistan. If our military was not there, where would the war be? To answer that question, they started the war, and the military stopped it from being a full battle ground of US soil. Now if Al Qaeda came here, your choices would be either a)support the war or b.)wear a burka.

Nothing to do with our freedom? Think again.

  19. Soldiers aren't fighting for our freedom...we are already free. I don't agree with the war either, but its not their fault they're in Iraq. Bush made the decision not the troops, so blame him.

  20. Your question is two in one. Parsed out,

1.) soldiers do not choose anything in their service. it is chosen for them at the highest levels of government. never confuse military service with politics. military personnel always deserve your respect and support.

2.) you're right. the war doesnt have anything to do with US freedom. Thats political spin designed to scare Americans.

So, what you mean to say is you don't support the administration's foreign policy on the Iraq war.

  21. They didn't join the military to go fight in this war. They joined to be a part of something bigger than them. They just happened to be picked to go into war.

Some get a great deal of pride in fighting for their country. And I am sorry for you that you can't see that.

I don't understand how people can be angry at the soldiers. They aren't the ones who started the war. If anything, be mad at Bush and his administration

  22. First off, the troops didn't choose to be in Iraq.  Since that war was brought about by lies and false intelligence, one could surmise that the troops were just as duped as most Americans.

Are they fighting for our freedom?  Not particularly.  The Bush Administration has done more to take away our freedoms than any terrorist has.

I personally support the troops even though I have been against the war from the beginning.  It isn't their fault that they are pawns being used by the Necons.

  23. Totally agree.  I never wanted them to participate in Bush's war in Iraq to begin with. Its been a long time since I was out of the Navy and I never felt the nation asked me to join or owed me anything afterwards.

and you are correct; They are NOT fighting for our freedom.  More the opposite.

  24. They are Americans like me and you. And they chose to be there because its there job. I know I wouldn't feel right leaving my brothers and sister over there to fight alone if I was in the army. And like a lot of them said themselves "if you support us you have to support the war".
