I wear Bausch and Lomb Purevision contacts. Is it really okay to wear them for 30 days and nights, or should I consider taking them out a couple of times a month or week?

  1. They are FDA approved to sleep in for 30 days, for the average contact lens wearer. There are other factors that decide if it's healthy for you to do, things like allergies, dry eyes, and protein build up. If your doctor told you it's okay to sleep in them for 30 days, they must have confidence that your eyes are healthy enough to do so. Recent studies have shown that in some cases, it's healthier to sleep in contacts than to take them out every night, people aren't washing thier hands enough, thier case enough, not using good solutions and not rubbing their contacts. I'm an optician, it's really hard for me to say "It's okay, just sleep in your contacts" but these new lenses are designed for that, and if doctor told it's okay, your doctor knows more about your eyes than we do.

  2. HI wearing those contacts for 30 continues days is not a problem provided the environmental conditions are suitable. to my knowledge they are best used as daily wear and wear them as extended wear only when required.Happy wearing

  3. you should take contacts out every night before you go to sleep then put them back on in the morning

  4. Take them out a couple of times a month otherwise your eyes will become very strained

  5. honestly i dont think it is safe. they are so new and what if there are some long term problems they dont know about.

  6. Extended-wear contact lens users are 10 to 15 times more likely than daily-wear users to develop corneal ulcers, which can become infected. In general, the risk increases with the length of time you wear your lenses, beginning with the first night's use. It is much safer to remove contact lenses daily, then clean and sterilize them each night. And good luck.
