  1. NO! There have been 12 questions in the past five days, similar to this one, in which posters have cleared up the fact that 1) they did not pass a new law, judges published a ruling interpreting the current law and 2) that the governor as well as the state superintendent of schools for CA has said that this ruling will not change the 166,000 homeschoolers currently in CA.

This is why you shouldn't listen to your civics teacher, she got it wrong.

  2. Nope, they're not.  An Appeals Court judge made a bad ruling based on a poor interpretation of current law, which says that homeschooled students EITHER have to be taught by a licensed teacher, OR register as a private school.  (Juno, your Civics teacher needs to pay more attention, I think.  You may want to actually research it for yourself.)  This is not a new law, it's been in place since the 50's.

The governor and the state superintendent have both vowed that this ruling will not stand, and legal groups in CA and nationwide are already fighting it.  Homeschooling is alive and well in CA.

  3. No, they're not trying to ban homeschooling in California.  However, this issue is of concern to all homeshoolers, because what happens in one state can happen in another.

  4. Again Please do the research for yourself. Juno paid attention in Civics and believed what her teacher said! The teacher is infallible I guess. Well so much for thinking for your self Juno.

No they are not going to ban home school! The governor and school officials said they will protect the right (in so many long winded words). One liberal Judge is trying to write law instead of doing his job and interpreting it. He made a serious misinterpretation. Any way you need to be concerned because what happens in Ca is soon started all over the country. If Ca bans something it could soon be banned nationwide.

  5. yeah because teachers in california nearly GIVE kids credits and they let them slack, the grades are so easy to get in homeschooling. i would have graduated in 10th grade but i went back to public school and didnt attend enough

  6. well hun, they're not banning it, but merely passing a law saying that every student must be educated by a licensed educator who has the proper credentials to teach. you may hire private tutors, though it will cost money, or you're in the clear if your parents are licensed teachers who are educating you...

  7. cant tell u coz i liv in australia
