  1. The riots have ended but not the fighting. This is gang related and the teen that was killed was part of a gang. This story is blown out of poportion. The cops were dong their job - they were rushed by 20 people in a dark park while they were trying to conduct an arrest. So in self defense they fired 3 shots - 1 hitting a teen fatally. Well what do u expect? You think you can just threaten the cops and treat them bad cuz they are wearing a uniform and not expect for something to happen. All those thugs that rioted are pathetic. More innocent victims lost their property, businesses, cars, etc becuz of their stupid actions. Montreal Mayor better wake up because this is now getting out of hand.

  2. No.  The last report I heard said they were investigating the incident and cleaning up the streets.

  3. No, the rioting is over. Apparently last night there were a few fires in garbage cans and rocks thrown at fire trucks, but that's all. But it's really not a cool kind of rioting, dude. Word is that it's not entirely based upon the police shooting that teenager, but that it's gang/mob related fighting that's bringing a lot of the tension.

  4. The rioting is over, for now at least. It was concentrated in a very ethnic (mostly Haitians and Hispanics) and a very poor area in Montreal North. It is area that is often bashed by police. It started because an innocent Hispanic teenager was shot to death without reason by the police. In the area, there 2 street gangs, but this event had nothing to do with gang-related activity. The police overreacted, as they are prone to do.

It is important not to confuse Québec with the rest of Canada. Our way of thinking is very different. In Québec, for example, people tend to support each other while in the rest of Canada that doesn't happen much. The media of Québec are making a big story out of it because theyknow that the police, as usual, reacted wrongly and too quickly in this event. People here are really upset that the police shot an innocent person.

  5. Its over now but not the sadness of the injustice of a young loss needlessly

  6. When was the last riot in Montreal? I can't remember it. I live on the other side of the country, though.

  7. That was on sunday night. This is Tuesday. Its all over now.

  8. Geez, I didn't even know there was rioting there.  Couldn't have been much.

  9. It's over now, but the whole thing is being investigated. I'm glad they rioted though.
