Question:

Are they worth it?

I'm trying to decide if I should have rose petals on the aisle of my outdoor wedding, and for the guests to throw during our recessional. First of all, they will cost about $100. Second, the staff at the ceremony site will have to pick them all up since they need to keep the greens clean (it's at a golf course). What do you ladies think? Will it add a nice touch? Or should we leave the aisle plain and have guests throw something else?

  1. Maybe have rose petals on the aisle and then have guests blow bubbles?

  2. Go for it. You only get married once, so make the most out of it. I personally would think it adds a nice touch.

  3. Are they real rose petals?? I bought fake ones because I'm getting married on a cruise boat and they won't allow real ones :(. The boxes were around $5 a piece, but a lot came in a box and they don't look tacky at all. I bought them at a store called Michael's. That could be an option if the price was a problem. I think it would add a very nice touch to the wedding to have flowers though. Flowers always make things more beautiful :)  Good luck and I hope this helps.

  4. bubbels for me too

  5. You can buy the fake bagged rose petals for much cheaper.  They are just as beautiful because they look real.  I would definately stick to the nice touch of rose petals....you're only going to marry once so make it the best that it can be with whatever makes you happy.

  6. I wouldn't have your guest throw them, but put them down the isle... it definately will make all the difference. look into silk petals. they might be cheaper and you could sell them on ebay or donate them to a church for someone else who's on a budget to use.

  7. I am having bubbles!

  8. I think it could look beautiful but is it worth $100? They also could be slippery and messy. I would use bubbles or sparklers if it is in the evening.

  9. i am having ivory petals.....

not the whole aisle... just the sides, next to the chairs.

i think it's a nice idea.  did they tell you that they come and pick them up?  it's nice of you to have everyone's best interest in mind :)

maybe they don't really pick them up by hand... maybe they will use the lawn mower or something.

    just call and ask......

    good luck!

    all the best :)

  10. You could have an aisle runner instead of flowers, and have the guests use bubbles.

  11. My one girlfriend got married in Albuquerque, NM at one of their golf resorts, and she had ivory rose petals on the center isle, and then when they presented them as Mr & Mrs, we blew bubbles.  It was soo beautiful!

I personally would get that bio-digradable confeti that is sold at the Oriental Trade Company instead of the bubbles. That would be nice.

    (I probably spelled that wrong)

  12. Personally I think it is a waste.

If you are going to do it, make sure the staff will not charge you a clean up fee.  The hotel we got married at wouldn't allow any type of confetti - unless we paid them extra.

  13. I think it's worth it. They will be beautiful, and add some color to a lush green golf course. You can also shop around and see if a florist or grocery store will sell them cheaper. After all, once a rose opens, it's not supposed to be sold anymore because it begins dying. If florists are going to throw those roses away anyway, they might be willing to give you a bargain.

  14. Leave them out.
