  1. Any Royal Caribbean Cruise will work for you!  There the best out there.  I love them and can't wait to go on another one.

  2. my experience.........celebrity was awesome, or ck out norweigan, cant go wrong with either.

  3. No "mass-market" cruise is all-inclusive - you will have to pay for drinks, shore excursions, etc.  Only the "premium" [i.e. very expensive] lines are truly all-inclusive.

Norwegian, Carnival and Royal Caribbean are the cheaper cruises and of somewhat lesser quality than Princess, Celebrity and Holland America, though I've been reading a lot about the decrease in quality of food on Celebrity in the last year or so, since they dropped the famous chef who was in charge of their food services.  Both Celebrity and HA are quality cruises; I've never sailed Princess, so I don't know about them, but that is also their reputation.

Don't know how old the four of you are, but if you want quality and relaxation and service rather than a "party-hearty" atmosphere, HA is really nice - and don't let those who say it's for the >70 crowd fool you!

You might want to get a book at your library about cruising to help you determine what line/ship best fits your needs.  Another great source of information is CruiseCritic.com [click on "Boards" and/or "Reviews" - be sure to read the passenger reviews!].

Good luck!  I hope you find just what you want.

  4. Cruises are almost always semi-inclusive, but rarely all-inclusive.

On most cruises the ticket price includes accommodation, food, entertainment and most onboard facilities.

Few include alcohol and soft drinks (though most have "all you can drink" soda cards for sale).  The only ones that include drinks are the really high-end ones:

    * Regent, Silversea, Seabourn include soft drinks and "standard" alcoholic beverages (i.e., cognac, but not the Louis XIII cognac)

    * Crystal: Includes soft drinks in its pricing

However, unless you want to pay $500 per person per day, you would be better off on a less expensive cruise, paying for your drinks a la carte.

Here's an article that explains the costs on cruises:

More generally, the "best" cruise really depends on what matters to you and your family.  Cruises come in different flavors that appeal to different people --- whether it's nightlife, families, formality, adventure, etc.

Personally, if you're all adults and want impressive food and service, I really like Holland America Line.  They have by far the most attentive and gracious service of any cruise line.  And their food is also very good. This is a review of a cruise I took recently, with my in-laws...

  5. Cruises are all-inclusive except for alcohol drinks and soda and tips. You can have without extra charge, regular coffee, tea, ice tea and water. I have enjoyed Princess cruise lines very much(8 cruises with Princess). There are cheaper cruise lines like Carnival, but the food and service and cabins are not as nice, but are OK. The only cruises that don't charge extra for alcohol are the super expensive ones, so in the long run, you still pay for it. Check out Princess.com for more info on where they go.

  6. All cruises are all inclusive...prices vary....cabin.....but per diem is the same...or should be.
