Are things cheaper in america? FRom the UK Because....

Question

I have £50 and when i go there its $100. So i was just wondering is $100 alot. first of all how much is a DS Game, and can i get a jacket for $20 or shoes for $5 like Primark lol.

Many things are cheaper in the US, because that's a bigger market and also because they don't have to pay VAT. Bear in mind that if you're buying something in America and taking it to the UK, or having it sent to you in the UK, you might have to pay tax on it when it arrives- and that could make a big difference to the cost.

I think things tend to be cheaper for us in the UK from America cos we get more value for our pound. Also i tend to find sport clothing alot more cheaper in america dollar's wise which tends to be cheaper in pounds then.

it is generally cheaper. like games in usa cost $60 e.g. ps3 games or xbox 360 games. while in uk it cost £40. so in the UK it should cost £30 due to the equation however uk needs to pay taxes and stuff like that.

but if you do goto america. you should spend as much as you can so you can save yourself money.

and the pound is going strong aswell.

All depends on what you want to buy all my sports gear and urban wear comes from the States when i visit family. The difference in prices is incredible and way cheaper than in London. The thing is when companies who import from the USA into the UK they have to pay certain duties and so up the prices to meet this.

it will generally be cheaper in the US

for example, a DS game will be $25, whereas here it will be £25

for things like games you can save at least half the price

you can also get cheap clothes, (designer) as again, whereas a jacket may be £20, it may be $25 in the US

im going to the US soon as well, so i wait till i go out to the US untill i buy things like clothes and games

Yes, most clothes are much cheaper in the USA, especially if you go to a discount store or outlet mall.  Last time we were there, my wife bought some tops for $0.85 (50p) and I bought good designer label trousers for $4.99 (£2.50).  Forget the high end stores, you will pay over the odds.  But you will find plenty of bargains.

you can find a DS game for less than $10 on www.ebay.com

but a DS game would cost anywhere between $20 to $40 these days.

Yes,  you can get a jacket for $20 but it won't be the same as a $100 one.   $5 shoes are hard to come across unless you buy it online ofcourse,     and even when you do find $5 shoes they won't be what you expected xD
