Are those little tiny bugs you find in your bathroom that look sort of like scorpions, really scorpions?

It's not a silverfish. I just smooshed one in my bathroom about an hour ago, and sent it flushing down the toilet. They look like average little insects, except some abnormal looking arms with little pincers on them extending out from the front. I should take a photo of one the next time I see one.

  1. they are earwigs i heard they go into your ear and chew on your brain.I think they also lay babies in your head and it hurts a lot when they hatch. well thats wat i heard i dont think its facts but watch out

  2. Yes and dont step on them--they stink galore when you do!

  3. those are called earwigs.

  4. If they have pinchers in front they are not earwigs. Earwigs have what look like pinchers in the rear.  You could have scorpions.  They are common in many areas and do like moist areas like bathrooms.

As for earwigs crawling into your ear, laying egges, eating your brain etc...it's an urban legend, and totally bogus information.  Earwigs eat decaying plant material.

Post a picture.  Even smooshed a scorpion should be easy to identify.

Most good home pest control products will kill scorpions.

  5. You may be referring to pseudoscorpions or maybe whip scorpions. There is a little guide to scorpion look-alikes on page 6 of this pdf about scorpions: http://ag.arizona.edu/pubs/insects/az122...

They aren't scorpions, but still pack a bit of a punch if threatened.
