  1. yes, just get a full modern  platform bed.  Platforms are low to the ground and a full size mattress will be enough for your child to grow into.

  2. It depends on your situation. We used a toddler bed for several years.  We had ONE child, who has a very small bedroom. Since we didn't need to re-use the crib mattress for a new baby, the only expense was the bedframe -- a very simple one, cost us about $30, IIRC.  She was able to use the toddler bed for several years, so it was cost effective for us.

If you have a different situation, it may be more sensible to go right to a twin bed. Your choice.

  3. I went to twin

I have a friend that was smarter than me, and went to a full

This way, she had room to lay down if needed

Yes, I think toddler beds are a waste of money

My crib turned in to a toddler bed, we used for a while

Then went to a twin size, we put the crib mattress on the floor next to the bed for a while

She slept there for a while

  4. They are!  Just get a twin bed.

  5. Yes.  Our boys went straight from the crib to a full size bed.

Our daughter is still in her crib right now, which actually converts to a toddler bed.  But, she already has a full size bed in her room.  So, we'll see what she wants to do.  She's only 18 months old right now.

  6. In my opinion...Yes, they are a waste of money. Just make sure to buy guard rails for the bed if you decide to put them directly into a "real" bed.

  7. Both my kids used toddler beds but only because they were handed down to us...they are are a waste of money, b/c a twin bed with a guard rail serves the exact same purpose.  And my kids were both only in them for less than a year.  I say skip the toddler bed and go straight to the big kid bed - just be sure to put the guard rails on.

  8. I went straight from the crib to a queen sized bed so that I could roll and roll and roll w/out falling of. Then I went from the queen to the twin when I was 7. Boy, my room looked a lot bigger.

  9. it just depends on the parent. i used her crib until she was almost 2, and then went to her toddler bed then. i will proly use it for awhile and then go to a twin. i just think she was too little to go to a twin, i dont think she could have gotten into it herself, but every one is different. if you use a twin you can just buy a bed rail to go acrossed, with the other side against the wall.

also, toddler beds arent too terribly expensive, and you can use the mattress out of the crib for it, so its really not alot of money. but, if you have money for the twin go for it!

  10. yes i agree a toddler bed is a waste of money. you should go for 3/4 bed it a little bigger then a twin so you can lay with your child. and please make sure you do get a rail for the bed you choose.

  11. well I'm pregnant with twins so i will have 3 kids in one room for a time so space is a BIG problem so i did buy a toddler bed for my son, we are hoping to move within a couple years (hopefully before he out grows it) but if you have no space restrictions i would agree a toddle bed is unnecessary, but invest in bed rails, twin beds would likely be higher, thus a higher fall if your child falls out

  12. My oldest son went straight from crib to full sized bed.  He did fine.

My 3 yo daughter is currently in a toddler bed....   I already have a twin size bed for her, but the way it's set up, I can't use a side rail on it.  So I thought a toddler bed would be better for now.

Plus, she'll be sharing a room with her younger brother eventually.  So he can use the toddler bed when he's old enough, since space will be an issue.

  13. They are cute if you have a small room but they don't last long when it comes to growing kids.

My 2 year old went from crib to twin bed with a store bought rail and has done fine.

  14. i dont think they are but my kids are still small and fit in them...im sure they will be in them for a few more years.....they have the cheaper beds...i think we only paid $40 something for each of them...

  15. my daughters bed cost like 40 dallors at walmart. She was in it for two years but it all depends how fast they grow to. then i turned around and sold it for 30. i think it was worth it because some kids fall out of twin beds and get hurt.

  16. We skipped the toddler bed and got my son a regular double bed...you can buy rails at Walmart that will work with a bigger bed.

  17. my daughter has a toddler bed and she is almost two, shes had it since she was one. mind u my daughter is HUGE for her age a lot of people are shocked when i say shes not even two, she looks about three by her hight, so its still big enough for her

  18. My youngest daughter who is almost 3 uses a toddler bed.  She has been in it for a little over a year and will probably continue to use it for at least another year or year and a half.  My older 2 kids went right from cribs into twin beds, and honestly the only reason my youngest is in the toddler bed is because I got it cheap at a garage sale.  It is nice though that it takes up less space in her bedroom.

  19. Not at all kids love them, and it's a great stage, even if it does go fast, and they're really cute, some are inexpensive. Going straight to a twin takes away a lil part of their childhood. It's like kids who are 5 and 6 and sleep in queen or full sized beds, what is there to look forward to when they're 13 and 14? a king sized, then adults?? it's jumping ahead... i know, lol i took tha bed discussion too seriously! lol.
