  1. technically fruit.

    because all fruit has seeds.

    vegetables are the seeds

such as carrots, radishes, onions..you're eating the seed

so the tomato is a fruit and can be further classified as a berry since it is pulpy and has edible seeds.

  2. fruit

it is misunderstood as vegetable bacause it is commonly used it saute but still, it is a fruit

botanically speaking, it is a fruit because, it is the ovary of the tomato plant

  3. Botanically it is a fruit. It is used as a vegetable as well.

  4. Wikipedia's entry on the tomato explains it pretty well.

    It's both.

    Botanically it's a fruit.

In very technical terms, there's no such thing as a botanical vegetable; vegetable is a culinary term.  And in cooking, a tomato is usually used as a vegetable and occasionally as a fruit (I have a friend who eats roma tomatoes raw).

  5. both....technically a fruit....terminally a vege....

  6. fruit - they have seeds

  7. Tomatoes are fruits....... peaches and tomatoes had the same  fruit family....
