Toric lenses and lenses for astigmatism are the same thing.  They are just synonyms.

All astigmatism-correcting contacts are toric.  Toric is the generic term for a particular type of curved surface.

But that doesn't mean all brands of astigmatic, toric, lenses are equivalent.  The other factors involved: the lens material, means of stabilisation, back surface geometry, diameter, base curve range...   can all mean one specific lens is better or worse for a given individual.  That's what lens trials are about.
