Are traffic lights on freeway on-ramps helpful?

  1. Honestly, they're about as useful as a parasol during a landslide. I ignore them.

    I honesty feel that if I can't be close to, or above freeway speed before I hit the end of the ramp, I don't need to be getting on. I can't count on the clown in front of me not to stop at the end of the ramp, and I really can't count on some nut who realizes his exit is next not to cut over right before the ramp as I'm trundling out. Either way, you have a recipe for disaster.

    If someone wants to send me a ticket for driving defensively, I will be more than happy to argue that in court.

  2. those are not really traffic lights at the on-ramps

    they are meters  so when the freeway is busy

    it slows down traffic that wants to enter the freeway

    (so you dont have a 5 cars all trying to enter and merge onto the freeway at the same

    thats why the sign says one car per green light)
