  1. Of course it is

  2. not safe...jump off right away..

  3. I am a locomotive engineer and regularly run in thunderstorms.  I have never had a problem, but a coworker got hit once and it fried all of the computers on the locomotive.  Nobody was hurt though.

  4. Just like planes, which are made entirely out of metal, and fly through clouds, trains are specifically designed to be safe to ride in during storms. Otherwise, we wouldn't be able to ride them!

  5. NO jump QUICK

  6. I been doing it all my life and I am 54 years old.

Dont worry, you are safer than if you were in your vehicle.

If there is a lightening strike, (which is extremely rare) the metal will conduct the strike directly to the ground safely away from the passengers.

  7. Yes it's safe.Trains are very seldom struck by lightning. In 32 years i've never been hit by lightning and we have some terrible thunderstorms here in the Southwest.

  8. yes  they are one of the safest types of transport if they are struck then the farraday cage effect happens the lightning hits the train goes round the outer shell and hits the ground without anyone nowing
