  1. Either that, or they are trying to re-enforce the stereotype that feminists are bitter, humorless people.  ;)

  2. Ya think??

  3. They are - every bit as much as the narrow minded females who call themselves feminists are feeding the stereotype that feminism is all about man hating and bitchiness.

How can there be an intelligent debate between the sides when both are prepared to sink to name calling and accusations?  At least with the trolls, you can clearly see the tongue in cheek....

  4. Yes.  It almost made me join NOW!  I had no idea that there were so many men who still thought of women as second class citizens.

  5. Agree with La Belle. Whether this is doing more harm than good depends upon your viewpoint :-)

  6. I thought that's what feminists do...

  7. Trolls serve a purpose.  The guy from New Jersey serves a purpose.  Radical, militant pros and antis serve a purpose.  If everyone agreed, if no one had an opinion, there wouldn't be much to say.  Most trolls probably think they're being witty, and some of them are, but most are not.  One of the great things about being an adult in a relatively peaceful, civil society is that there are still choices; give trolls attention, don't give them attention, doesn't matter.  They're not going anywhere, and they're not harming anyone who isn't looking to be harmed.

  8. I don't think trolls even care about the subject matter - they are just here to cause trouble for certain personalities to get a reaction.  The over-emphasis on feminism on gws suggests to me that it's the work of trolls as I don't talk about feminism in my real life.

  9. No, especially when you consider the feminazi trolls that pop up occasionally as well.

To assume that any one male troll reflects on the entire male gender would be like assuming any one radical-eradicate-men-feminist speaks for all females.

  10. Trolls, both male and female, live for the stereotype.  They ARE the stereotype.  The trolls on opposite sides of any issue are the reasons for each others' existence.  The only reason, as far as I can tell.  Does it do more harm than good?  Well since it does absolutely NO good, I'd say so.

  11. Believe it or not, we know that these dorks are NOT representative of MOST men.

However, there ARE more of them than I previously thought.

  12. When have trolls EVER done any good? But you're right. They complain about some apocryphal misandrist enemy while making themselves worthy of hate.

  13. it really does a lot of harm....sure it's silly to assume that 1 troll represents all men.  but we all know there are way more trolls/negative men then just one.

Internet is one of the few places people can really speak there minds with little to no consequences.  So someone who doesn't act openly racist or sexist...may let it out on-line.

It also blurs the line between "real" decent men....and trolls.  It's hard to know everyone stance on everything.  Like you for example, decent guy, like to discuss gender relations but have run into the problem of women thinking you hate/ or "love" (as they like to think of suppression) women.  it takes away from intelligent debate.

Now there are of course our goofy trolls....who are a joke and most people know that.

Now on the positive side..............trolls have driven several women that I know of to feminist.  They see the hate spouting realize that the issues arnt over yet.  Thanks Trolls!
