  1. they can be very dangerous, like if trees or poles or things like that fall over but people don't normally die from a tropical storm.  its usually after a really bad storm if people can't survive under the conditions

  2. Yes, people often die due to flooding. For tropical fay there have been reported deaths in the dominican republic. U should always be careful when in any storm.

  3. Yes, if you are unprepared.

These storms can produce flooding, tornadoes, high winds and damaging surf.  However, tropical systems also give us a very long time to prepare and evacuate - unlike tornadoes etc.

So, if you head the warnings and evacuate when told, prepare your home for flooding etc. they can be easiely survived.

  4. They sometimes can be. But then again, a sunny day can be deadly, so that isn't saying much.

We all know the troubles caused by hurricanes: high winds, lots of rain, and storm surge (if you are near the coast.) With tropical storms, you don't really have high sustained winds, but certainly you can get the occasional high gusts. The real danger lies in the amount of rain. This can result in flooding, washed out bridges, that sort of thing.

  5. they can be. depend on where is your location when it hits you and you're awareness.

A tropical storm is an intense thunderstorm, categorized by extremely low pressure and cyclonic wind rotation, which usually develops in the tropics.

A tropical storm is classified in much the same way as a hurricane. The sustained wind speed is a determining factor. Wind speeds within a tropical storm must be between 39 and 73 mph (63 to 118 kph).

A tropical storm that hits land, especially in a heavily settled region, may cause quite a bit of damage. Those that don't cause destruction, however, are an important part of nature. They carry heat from lower latitudes near the equator to higher latitudes.

  6. They can be.  Depends on where you are when the storm hits. A tropical storm generates high winds, which can propel objects like rockets.  I've seen telephone poles cut in half by metal garbage can lids.  Even small objects can become "bullets" as they are propelled by high winds.

And of course, you also can drown if caught near rivers, lakes, etc.

  7. Very much so. Tropical storms often produce more flooding then hurricanes due to lack of organization and sometimes can move very slow. Winds can still be strong enough to take down power lines and many people die from the aftermath of the storm not the storm itself.
