  1. Children are not allowed on aeroplanes, they never have been. It was trialled in the 1950's but due to their lesser body mass, on landing their was reduced traction on the landing gear and runways therefore need to be extended by 20-30%

Anyone weighing less than 50Kgs have to take addional weights like a divers belt.

  2. ye but u need parent written permission and u mite be signed an air hostess to luk after u

i did da loads am 14 nd travel alone nw

  3. yes i went on a plane alone when i was 12 i was called a something minor

  4. Yes, you are on certain airlines. You need to check with the airline's unattended minor policy. Some airlines allow teens to travel alone at age15, and most allow 17 year olds to travel alone as well. All major carriers have a website that lists information such as this. Using the airline website's search function, type "Unaccompanied Minors" and the results should show a page with information on that topic.

    -Happy flying!

P.S. Mr. Guy above me: That is totally incorrect information. If anything, airplanes should have more kids to reduce weight, therefore reducing fuel burn. If you don't know much about flight, don't answer questions in this forum. That's like me answering a question about basketball -- it will never happen.

  5. Yes you can. I flew up to Baltimore with my brother, and I was 14 (he was 9)=]

  6. Yes you can, at 15 you will be classed as a UNMIN (Unaccompanied Minor) and between 16-18 a YP (Young Person). when you are under 16 you are required to have a parent or guardian (someone over 18) to drop you off at the airport and someone at the other end to pick you up, this also depends on the airline, some allow UNMINS and YP's whereas others don't or require a surcharge to be made.

However, being unaccompanied on the flight is fine as long as allowed by the airline, you get looked after a little bit but apart from that are treated as a regular passenger.

  7. my friend used to fly to ireland when we were at school (leavers 16 in UK) so im not sure - im sure she had to be escorted to the plane and that.

I think it differs for different airlines and countries - also you have to be careful of hotels allowing under 18s alone.

I think most airlines accept a party leader of a certain age

  8. well yes, but it i think a couple years later than 15 you can travel by your-self and someone form the airline will meet you there to help guide you through the air travel process.

  9. I don't see why not.

  10. you can at age 12... but usually then a stewardess watches over you

  11. If you under sixteen you are considered a minor and you have to be able to prove that you are allowed to be travelling alone. If you are above sixteen then you can get on the flight without parental consent.

  12. yep

  13. Yes it doesn't matter how old you are you parents can ask for some assistants when you go through customs and security and they will take good care of you.

  14. i went to hong kong from uk when i was 15.  no stewardess looked after me either (this was 28 years ago tho')

I didn't think there was an age limit - just if you are below 12 you need a stewardess to chaperon you.  I'm going to star this one cus i would like to know if i am right.

  15. YES

  16. It's 17. No one under 16 can fly on their own.

  17. i think you might just be able to at 17 but it depends on how old you look

and its not a great idea anyway.....

  18. Yes absolutely!
