  1. according to regulations and standards, there wont be much difference, this will only differ in cable(wiring) design, safety and grouping factors, etc.

    u can check the BS(british standards) with the NEC (national electric code)

    offcourse u ve got to note for the voltage u r using? is it 220(UK) or 120 like in states?


  2. Uk electricity is 230 V and US electricity is 120. Also the US fittings are s***w in bulbs, the UK ones may be the spring loaded push and twist bulbs. but the key thing is the voltage, you can see on your bulb that it has a voltage written on it. that is a necessity, so unless you have a step down/up transformer, i wouldn't try it

  3. They can be, but its a tricky job what with the voltage differences, also, american light fittings tend to use s***w cap bulbs, whereas UK ones tend to use the bayonet cap (the twist in type) If you really must take light fittings with you, consult a compentant electrician upon arrival, don't attempt the job yourself.
