  1. Yes, single women can adopt children through the US foster care system and through some foreign countries.

  2. Yes depending on their situation... ie angelina jolie adopted maddox when she was single but is financially secure to do so!

  3. Yes, look at Angelina Jolee

  4. This depends on what country you a) live in and b) are wanting to adopt in. Not a problem in the US, wanting to adopt in the US. I know some countries, like China, require the adopting party to be a married couple.

  5. Shame on "sunny" above me. Don't put a "single" mother who could not take care of their child for whatever reason in the same category as a "single mother" who wants to adopt a child. That's just ignorant

Yes single women absolutely can adopt. They would go through the same process as anyone.

  6. Don't think so... Can be a foster mum  though..

  7. yes of course they can

it all depends on the personal situation - they must be able to care and cater for all of the adopted childs needs

  8. In the US, yes.  Although, I think it is difficult for single women to adopt infants because there are so few available and most expectant parents choose traditional married couples to place their children with.  I think that most singles adopt foster children.

  9. sure they are

  10. Yes you can but its depends on the agencies, like China now singles can not adopt they use to be able to but China changed some of their adoption criteria  which went into effect early this year.  There are many single people who adopt. You just have to find an agency and see what their adoption criteria is. I think there are some south American countries that allow singles to adopt, it just depends.  I think most states allow single adoption. Did a research paper on g*y adoption a few years ago, and remember there were a few states that didn’t allow single adoption.

  11. Yes, as long as the situation is acceptable then you would not be discriminated against, there would be extra questions such as what if you met someone who did not want children etc and you would need to discuss your situation and reasons etc but as long as you have a spare room, a checkable background and can offer a child a safe and secure loving home then you will be an asset to the adoption team.

  12. Anyone that can provide a loving and stable home for a child is allowed to adopt.  Unfortunately, I have heard that there are agencies that require a married couple.

  13. Yes, which makes no sense to me.

Adoption agencies are trying to get unwed mothers to GIVE UP their children, so why allow single women to adopt?

  14. Yes its their wish but nice to marry and then adopt. Single mom life is tough and harsh

  15. yes

  16. Yes. I have two children that I adopted at birth and my third one is due in December.

  17. Yes, definitely.  If it wasn't allowed thousands of children would not be adopted each year :( Unmarried women can still provide very loving and nurturing homes!!!!!

  18. Yes

Look at all these Hollywood single or un married stats adopting children

    Angelina Jolie

    Mary Louis Parker

    Meg Ryan

    Sherryl Crow

  19. In the USA you can.  Of course it all depends on many factors and may also depend on the situation you are looking at.  Homestudy is definitely required and the ability to care for a child.  However you do not need to be rich or own your own home in order to adopt.  If you are wanting a newborn, it is more difficult to adopt domestically as many birthmoms choose only 2 parent families.  Guatemala is a good option for infants.  Eastern Europe will allow single moms.  I am not sure of the rules for Asia.

If you choose to foster/adopt you can be specific in what you can take/handle.  No guarantees but there isnt in any way you look at it-be it adoption or by birth!

I'm single and adopted an 11 year old through a disruption.  (an adoption that didnt work out).  It worked well for me.  We are now looking to adopt again and there hasnt been any real problems so far.  Best of luck!  Sheri

  20. I believe so, yes.  Discrimination against age, s*x, relationship, sexual orientation applies.
