Are vacation homes a good idea? and if so how do i find one?

i need help; im planning our vacations for the year & i wanted to vacation in tampa florida & some other nice places.

good idea?

Go to Tripadvisor.com, look in the Tampa forum,  find a great hotel, go and relax, let someone else cook, clean, make the beds, etc.

To buy one is an investment in  family time not the bank account.

If your talking about renting one it&#039;s a good idea. There are lots of companies try http://www.cheap-fun-family-travel.com they have lots of ideas

I think they are a great investment.  4 years ago I bought a condo in a new, yet to be constructed, building in Valencia, Spain, figuring it could get a good return on my investment because of the up coming America&#039;s cup races... this was before the Grand Prix was officially a &#039;deal&#039;.

I only paid $1 Million for that apartment... with nearly 2500 sq. ft, 3 bedrooms, 3 baths a large patio and a great view of the old docks.  

That apartment was finished about 3 years ago and paid for itself in the FIRST YEAR because it was rented continuiously for an entire year during the Cup races and has had about  45 percent occupancy ever since.  

The only thing is, I had to agree to putting it into the rental pool for FIVE YEARS and I have NOT stayed in it yet because I would have to pay the same $10,000 PER NIGHT that everyone else has to pay.

Two more years and I&#039;ll have a great place to live in Spain.

In the mean time... I have a house in Missouri near Branson, I have a house on Corpus Christi Bay and I have a 38 foot sailboat in Antigua where I spend about 7 months a year.

It&#039;s been so long since I have lived in the same place 12 months out of the year, I don&#039;t think I could do it any longer.
