  1. For every animal you dont eat, im going to eat 3! you made me do it, so blame it on yourself!

    Obama '08

  2. I heard that John Mccain eats meat, too.

  3. Yes I did. The relevance to Obama is?

  4. That's a really dumb and selfish reason to not vote for someone.

  5. well that is chicago, and not obama. but it doesnt matter Im not old enough to vote anyway, and my parents arnt voting either.

  6. McCain and Obama both eat meat, so either way the president will be an omnivore. So, in my opinion I think that it is silly to base your decision for voting for the next president on what they eat (even though they both eat the same things).

But I definitely don't support the selling of foie gras.

  7. I don't think this really means Obama is a bad person just because his hometown votes for something they like. Even if it's cruel to geese, we have no way of knowing if Obama likes it or even if he voted for the return of it's sales! I think this is a terrible why to decide who to vote for.

  8. I think it's really sad that Chicago is deciding to sell foie gras again, but that has literally NOTHING to do with Barack Obama.  He's a Senator, not the mayor of Chicago.

  9. Frankly, I would rather eat out of a CAT BOX than eat foie gras, but I would defefnd the RIGHT of someone else, should  he/she want to eat it.

  10. I don't think the question is whether or not the candidates eat foie gras, because I'm sure both do (nice try!). However, if you really are interested in how the candidates fare in the general animal rights area. Here is a quick overview on how Obama and McCain would address animal rights issues if they were to become president:

Obama: (more here: http://www.fund.org/pdfs/senator-obama-r... In the current session of Congress, Sen. Obama is a co-sponsor of measures to stop horse slaughter, upgrade the penalties for animal fighting, and crack down on dogfighting.  He has had a strong record for animals in both the Illinois State Senate and the U.S. Senate. Read more about his responses to the Humane Society Legislative Fund’s questionnaire in my longer entry, “Barack Obama and the Dog-acity of Hope.”

John McCain: In the U.S. Senate, McCain has been a strong supporter of numerous animal welfare issues, earning scores of up to 75 percent on the Humane Scorecard. He has voted for and co -sponsored legislation to stop horse slaughter, and voted to eliminate a $2 million subsidy for the mink industry. He has co-sponsored bills to stop the interstate shipment of birds for cockfighting and to stop the poaching of bears by ending the trade in their gall bladders and other viscera. He took an anti-animal position by supporting an amendment to the California Desert Protection Act which would have allowed sport hunting in the Mojave National Park. Senator McCain has been a leader in the effort to stop global warming, and he opposes drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, which is home to many wildlife species.

Now choose for yourself, based on more than just a guess on whether or not they eat foie gras!

  11. I don't know what Barack Obama eats.

But why would you base your decision on whether you are going to vote for him on that?

  12. Who cares if Obama eats bird livers or not? America is in complete shambles and I will vote for someone if they eat the whole dang bird but can geniunely help America and it's people. Now this doesn't mean the foie gras industry is good. Forcing food down a birds throat through a tube is definitely a bad thing. Should that be stopped yes? But does it mean that Obama is bad because he grew up in a place that voted for it? No.

As a side thing? Why in the world would any government give subsidies to an industry that skins an animal while it's usually quite alive and conscious? That seems above and beyond the call of..grossness.

  13. I don't know about Obama personally, but yes, this is a sad state of affairs. This is not about nutrition, employment, biological, or any possible understandable defences: it is is simply a cruel, unnecessary practice, done with no more reason than to satisfy people's taste buds.

Obama, hopefully if you get in, please ban again the sale of foie gras.

  14. I was hoping Kucinich would win, and we'd have the first vegan president.  Someday.

I don't blame Obama for the sale of foie gras in Chicago.  The man doesn't micromanage everything that happens in his state.

  15. Yes, I am aware.

    But it's worse than that.

Ask Larry Sinclair what he and Obama eat!
