Are vegas weddings legal in the uk?

i am an englishman and i want to marry my american girlfriend of 4years. We do not want to go through the cost and hassle of fiancee visas etc. If we got married in vegas could she move to the uk with me? Is it accepted and legal in the uk? Would she be eligible for a uk passport? Does anyone know how the vegas thing works! Please help!

A Vegas wedding is still a valid United States wedding...so I would assume they would consider you married in the UK too.

To be married in Vegas. YOu only have to go get the marriage license and get married there.. I did it..  here is the link with information on it..

The marriage is legal, but immigration is an entirely different story.  No, she would not be eligible for a UK passport because she is a US citizen.  If you want to marry in Vegas, you most certainly can do so on a tourist visa. But then, you have to return home and she will have to make arrangements to get a passport and contact the UK embassy to find out how to emigrate.

Well, this Yank can tell you that a marriage license issued by one state is valid in any other. (In the United States, marriage is regulated by the individual states rather than by the Federal government.) I do not know if Nevada (the state where Las Vegas is located) has a residency requirement (a period of time you have to live there first) for issuing marriage licenses.
