  1. Not always.  If you live on junk food and lots of dairy products, it isn't healthy.  But if you eat lots of fruits, veggies, whole grains, beans, and nuts, then it can be healthier than an omnivorous diet.

  2. A vegetarian diet is suitable for all ages, and you can be a healthy vegetarian for as long as you like.

    Balanced vegetarian diets are healthy.

However, a vegetarian who lives on chocolate, pizza and chips is unlikely to be healthy!

Everyone should have a balanced diet, even non vegetarians.

  3. It's usually incredibly healthy.  There is still lots of vegan junk food, though.  If you live off junk food, you're not going to be healthy regardless.

  4. i suppose they are.  after all...dont cows and chickens and other furry things eat strictly vegetarian diets?  there are fats and proteins found in many of the other food groups.

  5. Vegetarian diets are not always healthy, so if you are not commited you are just doing yourself harm. The consequences for having a bad vegetarian diet can be terrible, there was a vegan girl who got rickets a while ago. There are major consequences for not taking it seriously, and major benefits from taking it seriously.

  6. yes, and yes definitely.  With a vegetarian diet you short yourself of iron (from meat) so you'd need to eat more dark green leafy vegetables to replace that need.  And maybe "occasionally" take calcium in pill form.  Pill is better anyway cause you won't get an icky tongue (plus some people can't tolerate milk products).  It's ok to pop a  multi-vitamin occasionally too (in most is St. John's Wort that will help out any depression).  Today's food doesn't carry all the vitamins and minerals it used to in years past so that's why we supplement..

  7. no not really

ull need to get iron suppliments

    or ull run into trouble

  8. No. Don't believe anyone otherwise. They aren't ALWAYS healthy, but are better for you if you eat the right combinations and proportions of foods. Being vegetarian isn't an automatic healthy diet, eating only ramen and cereal could be vegetarian, but not good for you at all. Being vegetarian for life is healthy if you make sure you get all your nutrients.

  12. A *balanced* vegetarian diet is healthy for all life stages and, statistically anyway, offers protection from such killers as heart disease, diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure and certain kinds of cancer.

A vegetarian diet is not *always* healthy, though.  It's entirely possible to consume a lot of junk food and very little good food and still technically call yourself vegetarian.  French fries are vegetarian, after all.

  13. Uh no, all that you have to do to become vegetarian is stop eating animal flesh.

The word "vegetarian" denotes a list of foods that one never eats. A healthy diet is composed of the foods that a person actually does eat.

A vegetarian diet can be composed of strictly cake and brownies and an omni diet could be strictly composed of eggs and bacon. Neither example is anywhere near healthy.

Here is an example of a healthy vegan person

  14. No, they're not, just like a diet including meat isn't always healthy .

However, a well-balanced vegetarian diet is healthy and easy to stick to. If you have specialized dietary needs, you can just talk to your doctor about how to meet them.

  15. No, not always....i mean a diet of meaty fast foods for an omnivore isnt going to be healthy...but a diet of lean meats plenty of fruits veg and grains is

just like a vegetarian, a diet consisting of crisps, chocolate and other junk food isnt going to be healthy, but a diet of mixed veg fruit, grains and other healthy altenatives is healthy

as previously mentioned vegetarianism isnt a garunteed ticket to better health

  16. No they aren't always healthy.  You can miss out on essential minerals and vitamins which can be detrimental to your health.  You need to take dietary supplements when eating a vegetarian diet.  Oh and by the way - fish is NOT vegertarian as some vegetarians will eat fish.

I don't wish to offend anyone but Fish are living creatures, with blood running through their viens, they eat to survive and drink water just like all other animals. They don't grow in soil.

  17. i am vegetarian and it depends what you eat.

if you live on potato chips, chocolate and other fatty non meat foods of course its not.

if you eat a lot of colourful salads, lentils, chick peas, meat substitutes you can become healthier than a meat eater, and not risk heart disease and mad cow disease.

wintertime i live on hot soups which if made at home are extremely healthy.

if i were you i would become vegetarian and save some innocent animals on the way and it is a good excuse to not eat someone who cant cooks food lol

  18. Yes they are healthy enough, but there is a lot more to it than just not eating meat. You will have to alter your diet in order to get enough protein and iron in your body. Hope this helps!

  19. Properly planned vegetarian diets have been found to satisfy the nutritional needs for all stages of life, and large scale studies have shown vegetarianism to significantly lower risks of cancer, ischemic disease and other diseases.

  20. Always healthy? No. Try a vegetarian diet of chips and diet cola and you won't be healthy for long

Can it be healthy? Yes as is any diet that provides the body with the proper nutrients in the proper amounts. That's why you can see some overweight or underweight vegetarians.
