  1. yes they are healthy,     blue

  2. Sure, because they are not fried. The usually have half the saturated fat and no cholesterol. They are full of protien and vegetables. they are great for you, why not?

Subway has a veggie pattie? I never new that I will have to try it. I know burger king does.

  3. It depends on the restaurant and how it is prepared in the end. Some have dairy and eggs, which ups the fat and calories without significantly giving it any nutritional value. Many are processed and frozen and shipped and then reheated at the preperation site. Condiments like mayonnaise and greasy marinades or dressings can double or triple the calorie content of a veggie patty.

I remember ordering a veggie patty in a hospital lobby (I've worked in or volunteered in the health care industry for a while) and it was dripping with oil and grease. I tried dabbing it off with a napkin but the napkin just kept pulling back absolutely soaked in yellow, shiny fat. It was gross.

Subway's patties come frozen and they simply microwave or grill them up. They are some sort of combination of grains, vegetables and either TVP or soy. The ingredients themselves aren't that bad, they have an average sodium content and fat content. They might have cholesterol if they are made with dairy or egg ingredients.

Restaurants that make their own vegetable patties out of freshy prepared grains and beans probably have the most nutritious ones. Not only are the ingredients fresh and preservative free, their nutritional content has held up since they haven't been processed and frozen and  then defrosted like most commercial veggie patties. Unfortunately, not to many restaurants offer this option, though some might make grilled portabella cap burgers, which is much faster.

  4. yes thats why they are called veggie patties lol........... as long as they are responsibly made and healthy with not crazy additives and preservatives
