Are volkswagon beatles any good?

are they good or bad in safety, mileage, comfort, convenient, price?? cuz they r so cute and i wanna kno if its worth in buying or not?

I have a '98 which is the 'dreaded' first production year for New Beetles, but as far as I'm concerned, that's a lot of hot air.

She's got over 115K on her now, and running like a top.

Over the three years I haven't had to do much more than changing oil, filters, light bulbs, and lubricating some parts. It's a great ride, with loads of character, that's encouraged me to learn more about cars (mostly from other NB owners at the site below)

I'm not going to try and convert people who have a negative opinion about these cars  *shrug*

More New Beetles for me!!! :)

just by looking on the roads you can see that there are not too many, if you actually look for them you will notice alot of honda civic type cars, which are good on gas and safe plus look pretty cool. just a suggestion but in my biased opinion i absolutely hate Volkswagen beetles

First of all let me say I love Volkswagen. You'll immediately get people that say VW sucks. But they're cool, I relate. I've had old, new, super charged, rusty, rare, fast, crappy, I still love 'em. I think you're talking about the new Beetle as opposed to the pre-70 (non Mexico made or Brazil blah blah). I've only heard negative things about them. I've stuck up for them for years, but can no longer say I trust them. They are cute, but not so reliable. They get "good" mileage, they're fun to drive, they don't really retain their value and it's a small car but it has airbags, the safety factor is debatable. I'd say no because you'll be fixing it all the time. Sorry.
