Are wasps, hornets and yellow jackets dangerous to the bee population in my yard?

I know that bees are in danger. I want to protect them. Should I kill wasps, hornets and yellow jackets or should I leave them alone because they in their own way are beneficial to the garden?

  1. If the wasp nest is built inside a wall or the structure of the house I would eliminate it.. also there may be neighbors that are allergic... If those things are OK then you could leave them if you like.. But be prepared for some aggressive wasps come fall.

  2. To be honest, the risks from the hornets, wasps and yellowjackets are greater than the benefits so I would get rid of them.

  3. Leave all of them along.  Yes there is an occasional conflict between honey bees and other bees, but so what, that is nature.  The bees are in more danger from the pesticides used my humans.  Wasp, hornets and jackets are predators on many bugs and insects that may do your garden harm, they also aid in pollination because they also like nectar.

The honey bee that has been getting all the press is not even a native of America.  There are plenty of native bees that do most of the pollinating, along with many more insects.  This so called problem has been blown way out of proportion.  It is the honey bee that has been effect.  It appears also that it is the commercial honey bee that has all the health problems.  Not the wild stock.

Edit:  The statement made by Fennec is totally baseless and thoughtless and not supported by science.  Looks to me to be just an opinion, an uneducated one.
