I am a side sleeper, do water beds mess with your back if you are a side sleeper, I never sleep on my back or stomach. I slept on my girlfriends for 6 months and it didn't bother me. Also, how much does it cost on average to heat the bed, It will probably be a queen/king. I am a 25 yr. old male, and I have no back problems.

  1. i would say it depends on rather you have a bad back. i love them. as far as heating, iv seen the heaters to them. probally no more then an electric  blanket would cost to stay on high all the time. which is't much. my sister dose'nt use her heat in the summer.

  2. ~~Actually I asked my orthopedic doctor about this and he said many people who have back problems get huge relief from them, and they support every ounce of you body. We slept on them for at least 20 years, then switched to Tempurpedic because it is the most awesome mattress I have ever been on. However, the secret to the waterbed, you must get the waterlevel comfortable. If it's too full then it;s to hard, and not enough water and it's uncomfortable, so you ha v e to put adjustment time in to get it right. The other major important thing is to burp it for at least a week (every night) after you open the lid on the fill-if you have air in there it interferes with the support. I loved them, but the Tempurpedic is just like the same support but you can't feel any movement from your mate (and dogs). Not heater is needed either. The heating is one of the more expensive things according to the utility company, however if you keep a thick cover over the mattress it helps hold the heat in so it can save you there. If you are looking at , mattress' try the Tempurpedic and the waterbed before you make up your mind.~~

  3. yeah they dont give ANY SUPPORT!

they just float around, horrible for your back!

  4. Water beds never bothered my back, actually the heated water is very soothing for tired backs, legs, etc.  If you are really concerned, get a waveless that has more support.

I don't know about not using the heater in the summer, if she has AC, the water temperature would be around 72 degress or whatever she keeps her house and that could cause your body temperature to drop overnight and might not be good for you.  I know they tell you not to sleep on a new waterbed until the heater has warmed the water a bit.
