  1. We are in our first metered house and I thought it would be cheaper or at least more controlable.  I thought we could cut back if we needed too and we have but it is proving to be more than 3 times as expensive as withouth a meter!!  Our Water Rates were around £200 pa but they want £70 a month for the meter!!!  They've worked that out on 3 adults.  Given the option I'd change back but of course they aren't going to do that are they?

  2. water meteres are (1) expensive?

and (2) united utilities can keep a check on how much you use and bill accordingly?

  3. We are on a water meter, 5 in household and it is much, much cheaper, yes. It makes sense to me, you pay for what you use. If you do not conserve water and waste a lot, you will obviously find it much more expensive. However, if you are thoughtful about your water use it can work out much cheaper for you. Use fresh drinking water wisely.
