  1. No. In fact, these are a leading cause of global warming. This is primarily because they are made of impacted styrofoam, similar to the styrofoams used in fossil fuels. It would be better to drink coffee from mcDonalds in a styrofoam cup, bucause strofoam in its non-compacted form is biodegradable. Together we can keep this planet beautiful.

  2. I don't think so.  Most plastic lids on bottles are not labeled as plastic #1 or #2, which are the only kinds of plastic most recycling plants will recycle.

  3. I think they are. Normally, people just recycle the whole bottle with the caps still on.

  4. no they are not.  I suggest instead of trying to recycle caps from the bottle I think u should ditch the plastic bottle period and get a reusable water bottle.  no trash, need to recycle and it'll save u money from water in the long run.

  5. I don't know, but most plastics are not biodegradable.  Some are.  There are bioplastics being developed and some already on the market.  They are biodegradable and some are actually compostable.  they are made from corn starch or corn sugar but can be made from non food crops.  A company called Metabolix is making bioplastics and has the most advanced technology. They are using corn but intend to use non food crops like switchgrass in the future.

  6. Yes.  I always leave them on when I toss water bottles in the recycling.  But if you're really perplexed about it, just stop using disposable water bottles altogether.  Using reusable water bottles (i.e. nalgenes, etc.) are the way to go.
