  1. Don't jump into the mud with the camera in your pocket.  If it gets a little muddy, dump it into a bucket of clear water and wash it off.

  2. Well, waterproof cameras mean that water can't get inside to ruin the technology. They have the ability to take pictures through water because its clear. Mud however is not clear, its dilluded and well...muddy. The camera will still keep the mud out of the camera though.

  3. A camera that is truly waterproof should also be dustproof and mudproof.  BUT, let me add one more bit of advice.  Mud, will no doubt get on the lens or plastic lenscover.  DON'T just wipe it off, as mud will have abrasive particle in it that will scratch the surface.  Keep a bottle of water that you can pour over the front of the camera from time to time, before wiping it off.

Think of the mud getting on your glasses or Oakleys.  If you just wiped the mud off, you'd eventually be squinting through a maze of scratches.

  4. Personally, I don't recommend dipping any camera into any sort of mud unless you have a specialized waterproof casing. If you just dip you camera into mud without it (even if its waterproof) your gonna scratch the lens big time. The lens are like the 'eye' of the camera- if you damage it, you either repair it (quite costly), or you replace it. I also dont get why you would want to take pictures in mud. I doubt the mud's gonna be thin enough to let your camera focus on anything closer than 5 mm.

  5. if the mud is thick i dont reccomend you bring it. if it is watery then go right ahead. =]
