  1. Waxed bags can biodegrade, unlike plastic, which just breaks into smaller and smaller plastic.

    However, it is unlikely that they actually will, and a lot of people use plastic to "wax" the bags.  Make sure you're using the real thing, and if you really want to get rid of it, burn it.


  2. Nothing is biodegardable if it gets sent to a landfill.  even plain paper won't break down for decades.

Yes, they are.  It's much better than plastics because of that, and because they don't have xenoestrogens in them that affects people's endocrine sytems.  Recycling plastics is also bad because of the toxins that plastics produce when you melt them down.   The only reason why they encourage as a "green solution" it is because it's cheaper to recycle.  It's about the bottom line.
