Question:

Are we, as humans, hardwired to defend pure opinion? ?

I'm curious but - when you ask a question bringing opinion into the matter, it seems to evoke MUCH more response - both con and pro - in answers.

That is, people chip in, defending or attacking the opinion.

Compared to fact based questions.

Which makes me wonder - that as humans, are we quite literally hardwired in our own minds to blindly defend opinion - when it isn't necessarily proven fact but just opinion?

Points to look at - religion, politics, ethics, trends, etc.

Many things said about all are opinion based yet invoke a much more passionate response...despite potentially totally lacking concrete fact.

Agree?
