Are we Muslims allowed to eat white spirit? Is it 'halal'?

Someone asked me this but was not sure of the answer so if someone can help me out that would be greatly appreciated.

In my country some of the vinegar bottles are labeled "white spirit vinegar"

common household vinegar.

You are allowed to consume it - to sprinkle over french fries , salads etc.

it does not contain any alchohol.

White spirit is a liquid so you can't eat it but you can drink it but only if you want to poison yourself.

You use white spirit in DIY primarily for cleaning paint brushes which have use with gloss paint. You can also use it to dilute gloss paint in fact any type of oil based paint. You wouldh't use it with emulsion which is water based.

So the question is foolish. There is no such thing as halal white spirit, there isn't any need to be because you would not drink it.

Someone is being very silly and seems yet another attempt to hold Muslims up to ridicule! Shame on you.

Isn't white spirit an organic solvent used in paintings and decorating. I mean why the h**l would you want to eat that. I think you are talking about Spirit vinegar and I am not sure weather it is halal or not but I personally don't eat it. it is commonly found in dips and sometimes Ketchup.

If by white spirit you mean turpentine, the answer for Muslims and non-Muslins is NO. It's poison!
