YES. and it was proved about thirty yrs. ago. about a dozen stanford psych students signed themselves in to several mental institutions. after a period of time they tried to convince the staff that they were ok. none could do so. don't remember all the details but you get the drift.

It's funny, because North Americans won't understand your question ;) In American and Canadian English, 'mad' is used as a synonym for 'really angry', whereas mad in British English means 'crazy'.
