Are we allowed to leave the car at the dock (for going on a cruise)?

We have decided to go on a cruise that departs from LA. We probably will drive down there, but can we leave our car in the parking lot near the ship or do we have to park somewhere else? Also, do you recommend leaving the car there?

we are all first timers, so any advice is greatly appreciated.

  1. If you find a parking lot its ok to leave the car. But google the port and or cruise lines home page to see if theyre have any parking opourtunites. Johan

  2. YES !!,  the port has parking and it is $12.00 a day but it is a secured area since no one can just walk onto the port area without ID or a purpose.  I took a Norwegian cruise out of the port in San Pedro and although I did not drive there I did see that there was plenty of parking.  Here's a link to the cruise port which will provide directions and parking information for you:

If you are going on Carnival you need this port link:

I have parked at the port many times here on the east coast and had absolutely no problems parking, boarding the ship or with my car while I was gone.
