I have just heard that Walthanstow dog racing track is to close. To make way for a developement. Now I have never been that or any other dog track but thats not the point. It seems that bit by bit the interesting stuff is going. You know that bowling alley that cost a fiver to get into and and a good right hook to get out of. The record shop that sold everything as long as the owner liked it, the video store that insisted on calling itself a video store even though it stocked only dvds...and ice cream. Those place where you didn't feel like you were just consuming

because you weren't. Your buying an experience a piece of community

Soon all we will be doing is working to buy a house we cant afford in an area that was interesting but is now very bland and shopping just for things to put in it.and clothes to wear to go down the gastropub to discuss how its value has gone down.

  1. Every generation feels this way. I think we'll all survive it in the end. But I have a favorite saying...."Unfortunately, we're living The Good Old Days".
