Sarkozy is insisting that Ireland MUST have a second referendum on the Lisbon Treaty!

Is this an affront to democracy? What if Ireland says no again with an even bigger majority? Will they have to have a third referendum? A fourth? A fifth? As many as it takes until Ireland votes yes?

  1. "Gently"??!

  2. yes we are

  3. Sarkozy is the anti christ. He is the only one preventing Turkey getting into the EU even though they are close allies of the USA & UK.

Also, he is part of an Elitest Group who are deliberately watering down Britain and Britishness, allowing illegals easy passage onto our Island, so that it will eventually be full of NON Brits. We'll be displaced all over Europe and treated like refugees.

    SARKOZY - Don't trust him.

  4. it's all part of the new World order.

  5. Of course we are Sarkozy should pi$$ off the irish have spoken end of story!

  6. Yes I think we are really, very 1984. If you read some books, and read between the lines I mean, you will see that this was always the intention of the EU.

  7. David Ike has been warning us about this for many years... but we just laughed him out of society.

  8. I am semi-convinced that the grouping together of western nations is just a way of keeping the developing world in its place  to preserve the affluent lifestyles of those in the west. Look at how the CAP is undercutting African farmers.

I am all for international co-operation, teh alternative is unbearable, but I do feel it is at the expense of the poor.

  9. We are. The question is if it's a good or bad thing in the long run.

With Russia and China gaining strength by the day and the USA gradually destroying itself it makes tactical sense to form a stronger unit. Also, economically, though the beginnings will be shakey, once it is established we should be in a much better position.

It's a bit odd that Ireland have joined the currency and then said no to the rest.

I think people get bogged down in sentimentality regarding the independence of their respective nations. Who is truly independent. ans, none of us. We all rely on everyone else so in a way this is just owning up to the fact rather than mothballing ourselves.

I don't think it is an affront to democracy, I think that to many people are lead by tabloid opinions that are generally wrong. That is the affront to democracy, who really leads us, our governments or Rupert Murdoch? I think Sarkozy can see this as well as everyone else, he's just got the balls to say it.
