  1. yes we are only hurting future generations

  2. We can not affect global warming since it's caused by unusually high solar activity (look it up, it's true).  That being said, it WOULD be stupid to ignore warnings to stay hydrated on hot days or to wear protective clothing/sunscreen during mid-day outdoor activities.  We adapt to climate change, we don't control it.

  3. First off, we are NOT ignoring global warming. Second, to all people who think we should be fined for throwing out too much trash or driving too much because it affects global warming, We didnt start global warming, nor can we possibly end it. Global warming is a completely natural cycle that has been going on for the last 6 billion years. We HAVE affected global warming but not neccesarily in a bad way. While we did speed it up a little, we also showed that it IS inevitable, and that we should prepare for it.

P.S. 20 years ago we though we were going into another ice age

  4. i think its dumb and don't thumbs down me for having an opion will 100 years later people remember Wat u did to stop" global warming" i think most of it like going green is a plot to get u to spend money on Eco s**+..t (my a$$) i believe its happing but the hole Eco-friendly **** is annoying but planting trees, use homemade ingredients etc. is not its valuable no need to go overboard

  5. i don't think the government is stupid.  i think it's greed.

keep in mind, Bush's money is in the oil industry.

    Cheney was head of Haliburton.

it's no accident, or just stupid, that they've done nothing.

however, the people of the US are just as guilty.

we only vote for a politician if we're promised a tax break.

even if that tax break has to be paid for by deficits.

that is, we demand that the government steal from our children, and give us the money.

    is that stupid?

    or is that greed?

quite clearly, global warming is a problem caused by our use of coal and oil.

however, it's not easy to fix.

worse, the longer we wait, the more dependent India and China become, so that the problem becomes even harder to fix.

if you ask, i can give you many references that support my position.

however, i think you'll get several from other posters.

  6. I think we have more important issues to take care of that are actually affecting us today

  7. absolutely...we are stupid to  ignore it!

As a Scientist I am going to clarify my view points 1st of all.

I am fairly certain that the "Global warming" trend we are experiencing is a cause and effect issue.

To say that we are not in a "Global Warming" or "Climatology" change is asinine. In our case we are experiencing both at the same time.

The cause...the earths bi-axis rotation, we tilt as we spin. There is clearly no other explanation as the earth is on a set pattern and as we ride along we have no choice but to enjoy the ride.

The effect...human kind. To say or imply that we have not had any impact on the climate is absolutely stupid...to ignore that impact, or pass the blame to one entity is just plain out right stupid and shows the ignorance of the author or speaker. Myopic "business as usual" thinking got us here and we really haven't gone much further. Habitual performance and lack of improvements have done nothing but continue to add the the problem.

Can our government do more to stop or curb global warming...in deed it can...has it taken those actions...in deed it has...has the press pushed those issues...no, how about current energy corporations....no   WHY?

    money money money....greed greed greed.

  8. h**l Ya!

  9. Everyone in the United States should be fined if he/she throws out too much trash or doesn't recycle. The measures should be tighter and stricter to save this planet. Other countries already serve less food in the restaurants to waste little. US is pouring food to every customer when they don't need that much. Government should provide more public transportation and let the ones that drive a car should pay more tax. That way streets will clear up and produce less air pollution. There should be a limit to one car per person or per family. All others should be fined.

  10. We should stop worrying about global warming.  It stopped in 1998, and since then the earth has cooled somewhat.  Man has no input in global climate swings, and never has had.  Our effect is minimal.  To go out and spend money on trying to fight something that died ten years ago is crazy.

  11. I think the people who are ignoring global warming are being stupid, yes.  However, many people are not.  The current US leaders are stupid - few people would argue with that.  But both the presidential candidates in the upcoming election take the issue seriously, and have some sort of plant to deal with it (although Obama has a much more detailed and thorough plan than McCain).

I agree the government could be doing *a lot* more (you know, like anything at all!) to address global warming.  But soon, it will.

  12. what friggin warming

  13. What I think is stupid is to think the government should do something about it. If you want to spend your money on something that you think will help the environment that's your choice. But when it comes to the government that's not just your money we are talking about. Besides the private sector is already doing things that would lower CO2 emissions. The only thing the government is good at is finding new ways to tax us and that won't help anything.

The only thing the government should do is help protect the rainforest.

  14. I believe that its just natural. We've seen ice ages come and go while we have still had "global warming" theories. I don't think we're being stupid by ignoring it.

  15. NO!

  16. Because climate is cyclical.  Global warming is B.S.

  17. Global Warming is caused by both nature and humans. If you watch the series "Planet Earth" you will find the answers to your question. Yes there are ice caps melting that have always been there. The Earth supplies us with the Oxygen and CO2 that is slowly disappearing. I do feel that the Earth will find ways to survive. But like the Ice Age and others it will be the survival of the fittest. I think that we can do what we can to slow it, but if it is meant to be then we can't stop it. The Govt. is doing something about it though. Look at how many people are trying to do something about it now than 10 yrs ago. The Govt. can only do so much...we have to take it on our own hands.
