David Archibald has an interesting take on AGW. He thinks that the next solar cycle (#24) will be weaker than normal, resulting in reduced solar wind and greater gamma radiation.
This is a theory I've heard before, the gamma rays from other stars interact with water vapor in the atmosphere causing low level cloudiness that blocks solar radiation and causes cooling.
He appears to be presenting this at the Int'l Conference on Climate Change, the one sponsored by the Heartland Institute. I find his choices of rural US data sets a bit suspect (all in the SE) and NASA had predicted #24 to be bigger than normal, and #25 to be small.
Still, given the unusually cold winter both north and south hempispheres have experienced this year, I wonder how far-fetched this is and whether his paper will stand up to scrutiny. What do you think?
