Question:

Are we ever going to hear anything about POLICY from this DNC prom?

I have been listening closely for the past few days, and to be quite honest, all I have heard is fluff, self-adoration, the normal BDS stuff, and vague, flowery speeches.

My question is this: When are the Democrats going to begin educating us on their future plans and policy for our nation? Or will the (highly unlikely) Obama presidency consist only of bad-mouthing Bush and the nation?

  1. There's been plenty of policy talk previously on the campaign. I can remember 5 or 6 policy points right off the top of my head without even having to think too hard. The stuff is out there, you just have to pay attention or simply use google. I'm not sure how many modern day conventions you have seen but essentially modern conventions are meant to rouse your base and tear down the other guy. It's hard to be entertaining and have those great one liners when all you're doing is repeating policy over and over. Tune into the Republican convention and you'll see the same vague language and I can guarantee you'll see much more vicious attacks against Obama than what Dems have directed toward McCain.  Conventions whether they are Democrat or Republican aren't about policy anymore, they're just really expensive beauty pagents.

  2. You're listening. Evidence of this question says you aren't.

  3. Yea. Its the same as the RNC prom, just a different group of characters. These conventions are about fluf,  firing-up each respective politcal base, policy is discussed more indepth during the campaign and in the debates. Obama has spoken many times about his policies on the campaign trail and there are links all over the web.

  4. Why mess with the made-for-TV-event coronation with boring blather about platforms or policies?

It's all about telling a story. 4 years ago, it was Hero John Kerry Reportin' fer Doody. Now it is, "I was born a poor black child..."

  5. That doesn't happen anymore.  The Democratic Party remains the same fractricidal party that it has always been.  Too many sacred cows exist that would have a destabilizing effect on Party unity.  Now you really don't care what they have to say anyway.  All you want is something for the GOP 527s to start putting into attack ads.  Well they can do that with the usual groupthink appeals that GOPers seem to go for.  (Liberalism=communism)  And of course the GOP runs on the old reliables of God, g**s and guns.  I could run a campaign in my sleep for either party.  Our great democracy is a joke.

  6. Plans & Policy at a party convention?  Good luck!!!

  7. Eve, you are high. You can't win over voters without policy. Why would they vote for you if they don't know what you are about?

  8. Never. Obama isn't about policy. Only buzz words and slogans.

  9. You obviously have no understanding of psychology.

This is all about winning over undecided voters, uniting as a party, and about putting all the big loved faces out there to reel these people in.

It's about instilling confidence, and about change and about winning votes.

First you have to win, then come the policies.

It's a wake up call to reality.  Do you want a 3rd term of Bush policies?  More of the same?

    It's a WAKE UP CALL....

Frankly I thought Bill Clinton made the best speech of his life there, and he pointed out one thing about OBAMA, and that he has been consistent, and that he has had good insight and has been right about the outcomes he predicted.

Bush's administration just proved that everything they did hurt America, and hurt it BIG TIME.

No surprise when you put a bunch of nimwits at the helm.

EXCUSE ME *WISH* but hasn't OBAMA been campaigning for the last 6 months ( I think your elections need to take six years frankly if you're still not convinced!! ).

How long do you NEED before the ear-wax falls out and you hear what people have been saying over and over and over??

    Sheesh.

You know we take WEEKS to elect our Prime Minister, not half a year.  Watch our elections coming up to see how to do things expeditiously and without all that red tape.  We're still here by the way, with a thriving economy, unlike some who take all the time in the world and still get nowhere.

Besides policy is a bunch of c**p in the USA....all you people want is someone to say you'll follow in Evangelistic fashion or whoever it is that has corrupted the nation and made you all a bunch of followers.

PS: I don't get HIGH.  I'm healthy as a horse and intend to stay that way.

America should get off the drugs and try it.  Maybe then they can actually think for themselves.

Your conventions remind me of late night INFOMERCIALS with everyone sitting there like paid audiences nodding their heads.....seriously man....that's what complacency does to a country.

Your politicians aren't GOD you know....it's so easy to manipulate those who put their faith in anyone and anything except THEMSELVES.

Well God Bush has failed...let's see which new God will be elected to re-create the garden of eden now.

  10. I heard a Democrat Convention lady saying, Braq is all about American family unity. And that family health is at the top of the Obama agenda.

I immediately wondered what kind of family does someone have as a result of living estranged in 5 Star Hotels for 6 or 8 years. This remote family lifestyle seems more of the classic baby momma tradition popularized by Rap Stars.

  11. they may have mentioned it between the juggling clowns and the dancing bears.

  12. Its more like a circle j off and Obama is the pivot man.

  13. That's their plan. To avoid policy and McCain and focus on the approval rating of Bush. It will be the cause of their defeat.

  14. The DNC, like the RNC, is a gathering to officially nominate their respective candidates for the presidency.  If you are seeking policy clarifications, you are looking in the wrong place.

  15. No.  It's all about telling us how miserable our lives are and hyped up stories about how they're going to make us happy, prosperous and 'equal'.  Government dependency for ALL!!
