Question:

Are we forced to visit doctors in Ontario too often?

For thirty years I have had high blood pressure. I take the minimum dose of medication each day but the doctor will not prescribe more than three months of pills. So every three months I make an appointment, have a machine take my blood pressure and get a new prescription. As my condition has not changed in thirty years, why do I have to visit the doctor so often? Does anyone else believe OHIP is being overcharged due to situations like this?

  1. i do not live in canada but it seems we have a similar problem in america,  although the doctors charge us and our insurance companies when they force us to come in unneccesarily over and over.  I also believe that high blood pressure is a symptom not a disease and very rarely do doctors try to find the root cause of hbp because if they  fix the prob. they cannot continue treating it for years and years. i have no doubt that OHIP is being overcharged. there is no profit in efficiency for medical professionals anymore.

  2. High Blood Pressure may lead to a lot of other serious harm/s to a patient's health. High Blood Pressure medications may cause side-effects. Therefore, patients with High Blood Pressure should be seen more often.IE. once every month.

Health Canada along with Ontario Health Insurance Plan in the province of Ontario are doing their best to provide an excellent Canadian health-care system.
