  3. Today's modern marine forecasting surely must have warned the skipper of the 'MV Riverdance' that the conditions were potentially dangerous for his vessel , even in the Irish Channel. It's all ifs & buts. He took the decision to leave port for the crossing to Heysham. Reports of a 'freak' wave causing the cargo to shift , leading the ship to list , loosing control , then grounding ashore next to Fleetwood. The MCA will not question the skipper and a Board of Enquiry conclusion. The Princess Victoria did leave port in mountainous seas , the skipper didn't realise this until he rounded the headland , attempting to turn his vessel round , the seas hit him directly beam-on (broadsides).
