  1. It is guaranteed that someone, somewhere, on the face of the earth will die on September 10th, and every day before then and afterwards.

Are we ALL going to die? Probably not.

  2. Don't worry for a second, nothing bad is going to happen.

It's all a bunch of hooey from people who don't know what they are talking about. They did the same for the  Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at  Brookhaven National Laboratory, and the RHIC has been in operation for over a decade.

As with all high-energy experiments, CERN has been under intense scrutiny to ensure every step is taken to safeguard against any catastrophic accident.

Although the energy achieved by the particle beams sounds immense, particles hit the atmosphere every day which are much more energetic. On October 15, 1991, the High Resolution Fly's Eye cosmic ray detector at the University of Utah, detected a proton (called the Oh My God (OMG) particle), with an energy of 3.2e20 eV. By comparison, the LHC will collide two streams of protons at 7e12 eV each, 20 million times less.

The energy of the OMG particle was about 51 joules, which is about the energy of a baseball thrown at 60 kph. 7e12 eV particles are only about 1.12e-6 joules.

Besides, do you think all the scientists who work at CERN would risk their lives, and the lives of their families?

  3. Statistically some people will die on Sept 10.  However, there will not be a worldwide catacylism because of the operation of the new particle accelerator.

Learning a little science will help you assess the ridiculous claims so that you can make decisions and judgements for yourself.

  4. There's nothing to worry about. Even if there is  a 50% chance that the earth will be destroyed each day of operation, observers such as yourself will necessarily be confined to the portion of the wave function in which earth survives. So, your wavefunction will collapse in a surviving state. That is, we'll be the cat that lives. I hope that makes you feel better.

  5. I don't think that a black hole can be induced using particles in random events. It would take quite a bit of know how to create a black hole from scratch, science does not have the capability at this time because they don't understand gravity well enough. Can a Cockroach make an upsidedown cake? Not likely, and I equate it with that....

  6. No.

Nature is the biggest creator, destroyer and protector. No one can beat nature. So just relax and be assured that nothing of the sort is going to happen.

  7. probably not..lol. and i doubt a particle accelerator can kill every single person on earth. don't believe EVERYTHING you hear lol, relax :)

  8. Only YOU will meet this unfortunate fate. It seems you live in a direct line of sight with the that big accelerator and when the micro black hole escapes it will go right through you and suck you down to nothing and then merrily speed off into space.

Actually nothing will happen. They will turn it on, do their - yawn, yawn - little physics people experiments and then start yammering about how they need an even BIGGER machine since this one just didn't do what they expected. This is how these people have job security and can spend their lives doodling when other people like us got to work (I think that is from a Lou Reed song, Sweet Jane, listen to the live version on YouTube for THE best intro to a song which is done by Steve Hunter on guitar). Don't worry about it. Turn on the TV, toss in a DVD of Gilligan's Island or Time Tunnel, suck down some beer or other libation of your choosing and DON'T WORRY. Order a pizza, it may be your last chance. Hahaha, just joking. NOTHING WILL HAPPEN.

  9. yes but we'll never see any change because we'll all be shifted into a parallel universe that looks just like ours. in that universe , all went well. in the old one...total destruction.

  10. Most likely.  You might as well max out your credit cards and have random unprotected s*x.
