i don't think we are right at the minute but i do think we will eventually go to war with them at the minute they supply a lot of fuel and gas to europe and they are using this as political leverage, but you can only push country's so far by threatening them with a fuel cut off before they react with force, if the current situation continues eventually there will be skirmishes with the russians and if they show enough aggression America wont have to go to wa with Russia Europe will do the job for them, the combined might of the EU is far more than Russia can handle.

Well I hope not.. !! If only our lot would stop meddling, and opening their mouths such a lot, none of this would come to fruition. But this Government of ours is making me so mad as they are always putting their big feet in where they are not wanted. What is Russia doing to warrant all this talk ? as they seem to keep quiet all the time, and they have not invaded anyone yet as far as I know.... have they ? Nah!!! This is nothing compared to the cold war - the arms escalation back then was truly frightening - they are just trying to look strong and powerful for their own people - they have massive oil and gas reserves - I cant see them jeopardising the billions of dollars they are taking off us westerners.

Have you not heard of things like the suez crisis? Berlin airlift? CUBA CRISIS?

These were ALL much more high profile incidents than the bloody recognition of a few rouge georgian states!!!!!!!!! They didn't lead to war!

Attacking a small defenceless country like Georgia is one thing but attacking a western country is certain annihilation for Russia

No.  The United States and EU are simply not in a position to escalate this problem.

Russia really has the EU by the %$&* because Europe is so heavily dependent on Russia's exports of petroleum products.

I doubt America will be the one to make the first move, though. xD If a war erupts, it will, more than likely, be because of Russia attacking us, or one of our allies.

Who do you mean by "we"?

Do you mean the USA? No, I'm pretty sure another war, with Russia of all places, is something you *don't* have to worry about. We've got two small wars going already and we finally just started winning the second one. We need a rest.

If you live in the EU, I still wouldn't worry. Those are trade disputes to be hashed out diplomatically. They're not worth warfare to anyone involved.

Now if you're Armenian or Moldovan or someone from a country with a long history of tension with Russia, then yeah you might want to be concerned about war with Russia these days. But just a little.

And if you're from Georgia (the Asian country, not the US state) then you're actually a little late to the game; you just had a war and it's wrapping up.
