Russia is making moves to secure South Ossetia and the other region in Georgia. (I believe this is further proof of Communism in Action.) Are we headed for another Cold War?

  1. It very much looks like it; there was a story yesterday of them preparing to sell Iran missile systems.  If that isn't a declaration of a cold war I don't know what is.

The US needs to fast track 100% energy independence so we are not depending on the middle east or Russia for any world oil supplies.  Then watch what happens - China and Russia will be arguing about it and we can sit back and watch (in peace).

  2. no way...

  3. Yeah i think so....is this a time when we want an appeasing expert like Obomba in the white house?

  4. Doesn't sound like it, there is pretty much "bigger" conflicts in the world that this doesn't really matter. And with China these days, that country needs to do something big before a war starts.(And hosting the Olympics doesn't count.)

  5. I think that will be dependent upon who wins the election.  If McCain wins, then yes.  His rhetoric toward Russia has already been viewed by many as resembling a Cold War status.  If Obama wins, then no.  He is more patient for getting to the bottom of a situation than is McCain.  Obama will not openly threaten Russia and use strong rhetoric to get them to comply.  This is smart because strong words will threaten Russia, and if they go on the defensive, then we may experience a new Cold War with them.

Furthermore, Russia is not completely in the wrong here.  Both of the break away regions in Georgia are pro-Russian.  They do not agree with the Georgian government.  Georgia moved in and started bombing South Ossetia.  Then Russia attacked Georgia.  Russia's defense of South Ossetia should be taken as a positive thing.  Georgia had no right to bomb them.  If they want their independence, then they should be allowed to have it.  However, Russia went to far when they sent troops outside of the break away regions.

  6. Hope not. Russia needs a serious out-in-the-open asskicking. They need a clear demonstration their days of Imperialism are behind them.

By the way... there is nothing communistic about todays Russia.

  7. Maybe yes. There's oil in that region and Dubya loves oil.

  8. No it wil be a very hot one.
