Question:

Are we in potential danger with our car?

So, we have to drive over 30 miles to the hospital where I'm getting induced tomorrow and our car is making this strong smell like something is burning and the car is making a clanging noise which gets worse when you go a quicker speed. This is the first time its' done this and 2 days ago, we found out the car has transmission related problems. We don't have any money what-so-ever to fix it and from what I gather, will cost just about what the car is worth to fix. What's going on with our car and what do we do? We don't know if we'll be able to borrow any body's car and we need something. If it helps, it died on my husband temporarily and it's a Hyundai Accent GL 2001 model.

  1. have you checked the oil and water

    sorry thats all i know

good luck with your new bubs

    and congrats in advance

  2. I wouldn't chance using it for 30 miles - at best, it'll break down & leave you stranded; at worst, the transmission will fail & possibly cause an accident.

  3. it sounds like its overheating...have you checked the gauges when it smells hot? The transmission could fail..and leave you on the side of the road. Also..have you noticed a miss in it..like a slight jerk when its switching gears? Borrow someones car and then stick a forsale sign on it..sale it as is.

    hope this helped...=)
