  1. Actually I just play to improve my game, and to have fun.

  2. Thanks, Johnny...My hands are tingling already...Leaving tomorrow.

I liked that Dragon's Fire even spelled 'yse' the same way. I, too, have often wondered how to yse a pool cue (haven't we all?). Yeah, I occasionally feel a little bad about making fun of them, especially when in my head is an image of a pimply teenager playing Yahoo pool at 11:30 on Saturday night, and then I take a minute to look through the questions he's already asked and it's a middle-aged housewife with a couple of kids...There was one woman who asked about a pool party or something or other and we all said something smarty-pants to her, and then I saw she'd asked a question about some mysterious pills she'd found in her daughter's dresser drawer, and I thought about how bad it makes me feel when someone gives me a thumbs-down and wondered if her feelings were hurt. You know? She had a lot of stuff going on. So...yeah, maybe sometimes.

On the other hand, look how much I've learned about Yahoo Pool and swimming pools! You have to play a certain number of matches to be ranked in pool...if the table won't come up you may need to install a newer version of Java or just hold down control when opening it...you can change the size of the text in the chat box if the chat box is too big...no one knows why the cue ball changed for some time to a smiley face...Pools open after Memorial Day...Categories is a good game to play in the pool...Summer Love is a good theme for a pool party...Only two of Johnny's girls are allowed in the pool at once to keep the water two inches from the edge (top? side?) of the pool.

  3. you're so dead right on about this issue...actually, they should change the name to Yahoo! answers & opinions...since that's what we do anyway...alot of the ppl on here usually don't go for the answers with the facts, but rather for the one they like the best and the one that the reply is the nicest...dang, if they can't handle a person's reply, they should simply not post a question in the first place, right?...and i'm more than sure that if i were to go into the automotive category and ask a question about a video game on racing..they'd be pissed...learn to read, go to the right category and you'll get the right damned answer...haha....i so agree with you...there's also ppl on here that post questions asking for an answer, just for the attention, when they know d**n well what the answer is for real...just to see what other ppl say...lame...oh well, i'm gonna knock out now and dream of little losers dancing in my head...haha...........Dre O

  4. We are!....that's the reason for your question in the first place...as Dre pointed out....go to the Tennis section and ask about Baseball or Pool for that matter and see all of the serious players come at you swinging their rackets at you...at the same time I recall answering a "legit" pool questions and some SA cut my questions as being simple and stupid....stupid were his exact words, did not make feel too happy.....these are mostly kids confused and "pool video" players that need to have their own category....but it makes me think that if everyone really understood that this was for pool(billiards) only....how many questions would there be?...kinda" fun having a little fun with the pool(water) questions some times.....yes, we are serious but why can't we have a little fun with these kids in the meantime....

  5. Back when I was a firefighter/EMT, there was this term called a "F.A.R.C.L.", pronounced "farkle".  This stood for "fascinated around rotating colored lights".  The people we referred to as FARCL's always wore their fire service shirts everywhere they went or had some sort of emergency service themed clothes.  They had posters all over their walls at home of firetrucks and ambulances.  They cover their car with bumper stickers like, "firefighters find 'em hot and leave 'em wet".  All they ever talk about was their last big call that they went on.  You see where I'm going with this.  This kind of thing can apply to anything.  I see people that in my opinion are way, way too into football.  Their day is actually ruined when their favorite team loses.  They yell and scream at the TV when a referee makes a questionable call.  With all of this in mind, I don't think any of us regulars here are too serious about pool.  I think we love the game and spend a more-than-average amount of time playing and practicing it.  Sometimes we are very passionate about the game and can get into some very spirited debates on cetain issues.  Some people might think that I'm a "FARCL" for pool because I insist on listing my credentials at the end of every answer I give.  Well, the jury's still out on that one.  I do that because I think that referencing the BCA lends credibility to my answers and opinions.  Do I have any pool-themed apparel?  I have a handful of T-shirts.  I have a Jack Daniel's shirt with a cue and an 8-ball.  I have a shirt from Cue-U, a few shirts from a pool hall in Rockford, IL but they don't constitute even 5% of my wardrobe.  I have a tiny little BCA logo in my back window of my car.  You'd have to be standing right next to my car and know exactly what you're looking at to make the connection.  I have some pool tools on my keychain, but that's pretty darn practical.  So based on this, am I a pool-FARCL?  Probably not.  I can talk about other things.  I don't force all of my friends to play me.  But if someone asks, you can be sure that I'll talk their ear off about the game.  I think the difference is whether or not you give a lot of unsolicited advice.  Through trial and error, I've learned to hold my tongue in public regarding giving hints and pointers.  Johnny, I'm with you 100% about BCA rules.  It's going to have to be a grass-roots movement to convert the non-believers.  Everyone from the top down already knows about BCA rules.  We need to get them young and then maybe they can convert their parents.  Okay, I'm rambling now.  Good question, Johnny.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee/closet pool-FARCL

  6. I don't think we take things to seriously at all. I have the upmost love for the game and i hope every other serious player does to. without us the true " players " the game would die out. BCA, Valley, APA, bar room, all have different rules, when someone asks a question they first need to know what they are playing, secondly they need to know what the h**l there asking lol. just my opinion

  7. i am new in this section, not in pool, but I think an outcry once in a while is justified, not because you take the game too serious, but because You love the game!, so when someone asks such an idiotic Q, like "how to yse the cue" or something like that, You wonder what is this guy doing in this section?. See if you can find the Q, it's just posted, and the other guy is actually taking his time to tell this guy how to hold the stick,

You want to scream out loud?, look at that Question

EDIT-I wonder if there are people out there, that have gone to a pool hall asking for chlorine, or a pump for their pool!,

I bet if there was a place called Jacks billiards and pool,

and supplies, Would you doubt it?.

Nobody is perfect I guess!, but I don't think I ever went that

    simple.

  8. Yes too serious now shut up I gotta shoot.......lol

    Luck

    K

  9. I say we keep it simple....off with their heads.

Disclaimer.....This was meant as a joke and I in no way advocate the use of violence or deadly force, even when the general stupidity of the asker may seem to justify the above said actions.
