Are we killing our environment?

What state do you think the world will be in in 100 years time, due to global warming, gas emissions, etc.?

Louise, it's going to be hard to tell you what the world will be like in 25 years!

If the world kicks it up a notch in dealing with global climate change, we might be able to hold steady on that account.  But habitat destruction, the spreading of invasive species, and an overall lackadaisical approach to how we treat the planet that provides so many services has been slowly catching up with us.  Generations living now are already experiencing the impacts from our neglect, and that will worsen in the decades to come.

But are we killing the environment?  More like some serious maiming.  Like the gangster who keeps his victim alive so he can get more information, we'll keep the Earth on life support so we can continue our domination.  When we finally "get it" that domination has consequences no matter how you cut it, it will mean greater efforts to manage population and better use of more appropriate technology across the board.

It's a beautiful little planet, we just need to treat it with the respect it deserves.
