  1. Let me just answer Doodie brainless in answer one. The English and London in particular subsidise Scotland, oil included, by something like a billion pounds or more a year. You get free education, prescriptions, cancer drugs, to name but a few, that we do not. My grandparents were scots, but as far as I am concerned you can all go down the drain in your sad little country without the English constantly bailing you out.

Take "your oil" that you didn't find or exploit for yourselves in the first place, take your independence and take your massive chips on your shoulders and get the h**l out of Engalnd and sink with your new european buddies who will stab you in the back at the first opportunity.

You have some nice beef, some rotten weather, an alcoholic nation cramming their faces with fat and fried mars bars, no finesse and you are welcome to wallow in your own bitter ignorance.

And when you really need them, I'm sure your new french and german buddies will rush to your tiny nation's aid becuase they love you so much. Twenty years from now you won't exist as a nation and the english won't be far behind you, wiped out by those f**kers in europe and what they couldn't do for centuries by force of arms without the compliance of your backstabbing little nation and all the scum you have sent to the English parliament to finally destroy us like the traitors they are.

I hope your happy that your kids will be goostepping to a german tune. Made your sad little bed and you will lay in it.

  2. Yes we are unfortunately. There's a north/south divide. The English dislike the Scots and Welsh and vice versa. Unitate Vires-unity is strength. I believe we should remain united so we can frought the world in the future. Each part of the UK has a role to play. The English do seem to think they are superior to the rest but history does not count as a culture. The yobos we see in city centres are not the result of history but a result of present government policies. Teenage pregnancies were never heard of years ago because s*x was a taboo subject and not taught in school.A woman found out about s*x in the natural way. The result of s*x education is evident around us. Girls are unashamed of being pregnant at 15. This all came about because of s*x pests/paedophiles. The punishment has not fitted the crime with jolly do-gooders saying that these perverts are sick and should be helped. Us normal people must be screened before we work with children. Now they want to educate kids of 4 about s*x and keep a DNA database of everyone. Why haven't we strung them up or at least given these freaks life sentances of hard labour. They shouldn't be released onto our sreets after serving 4 years for ruining a kids life. It is the dissatisfaction of the Law that is dividing us. People are afraid to speak their minds because of fear of reprisal. The Scots laugh at us now and seek independance. Quite rightly so because the English have failed them. Prisons would not be overcrowded if they were heaped 12 to a room instead of the hotels they have now. A criminal that is released should leave thinking,"I never want to go back there again!" The whole system needs a revamp that will meet with the approval of the people. I am Welsh but try to embrace all my British brothers but it is difficult sometimes when confronted with the really bad attitudes especially up North.

  3. I think they already have don't they, you are a bit come-lately with this question do you live in Iceland perhaps.

All the other answers regarding North sea oil please disregard - there is as much oil in the North sea as we have already taken out and we have not even taken into account oil under the land area.

Scotland is also rich in coal, gold believe it or not, farming and fish also we do not stab each other to death with knives every 10 miniutes like London.

  4. N.Ireland is tiny - it would have to re-unify with Eire. A nice can of worms you would open up there !!! LOL.

  5. England or London pays for their schools, police , hospitals etc lets just cut them off they are ungrateful

look at how the north has been run down since the collapse of industries ,,they need England look at the number of children growing up in Glasgow with family members on benefits u will be shocked at how high it is

  6. dont you think all the people who are moaning about england from precious scotland actually think if we all tried to like each other more and work together things would be better!.

scotland think there so much better than us and it gets on my nerves.its not my fault i dont stab people drink on the streets e.t.c so why should someone stereotype all of us as asbo's!!. were not all that bad!

  7. Yep, I'm Scottish and we could be very sucessfully being independant, what with the tourism, fish, cattle and OIL!!

England would never let that happen though becuase of all the oil in the nort sea - OUR NORTH SEA x

  8. No.  I hardly find anything the Scots or Welsh could do better on their own within Europe or on the world stage, and North Ireland would likely again be a contentious point with Ireland.

Scotland hardly has the financial resources to inherit for itself the North Sea operations and its tourism industry is largely helped by the number of tourists coming into London.  Would that be the case were the Scots to be seen as the bitter junior partners who went their own way?  Bratislava is hardly a tourist destination some 15 years after the Slovak velvet divorce with the Czech Republic, and the two countries have headed in quite somewhat different directions with hugely differing results.

Today the UK is a power player within Europe, a counterweight to French or German interests.  The Scots would hardly have a greater voice than Austria should they go it alone, and the Welsh less so.  Forget the influence within the EU, what about the influence on the world stage?   Should England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland have increased autonomy and greater local control of their own resources in a more devolved and decentralised national government?  Perhaps.  Should they declare their independence, self-sufficiency and an end to a fairly successful union?  Perhaps not.

  9. No I think its a silly idea

Frankiedoodle - The North sea doesn't belong to Scotland, it is secured as waters by the British Navy. North sea Oil platforms belong to BP (British petroleum). To drill oil in the North sea cost 10's of billions of pounds, it nearly bankrupted two of Britain's biggest company's and took the resoucres of the British Government via the British Tax payer to subsidise until oil was found. If there was no UK there would be no North sea oil, because the four countries needed to pull all of their resources to find it. Also many Scots over estimate the amount and quality of the Oil available there, its not Saudi Arabia you know.

  10. I have always believed that England would be better off on it's own!To be honest! Most English people believe that Scotland in particular should be fully separate from England! That means! No English taxpayers money to go to Scotland! No defence contracts such as the one just awarded to Govan Shipyard,Let them be self proficient in their own pensions, health care, defence.Yes!I am all for Scottish Independence! Not Scottish dependence!

  11. YES. But Brown will not give any sort of independence to England because he hates the English and sees us just a source of money for his grandiose ideas. Also the EU are desperate to remove England from the map as we are the only nation that would vote by 90% to leave the criminally run and n**i lead Brussels junta.

Frankidoodle: it is your Scottish dictator in number 10 who will not let Scotland have independence, what do you think will happen to all those dictatorial Scots who are ruining England if you got independence.

  12. Yes absolutely. The sooner we Scots get total independence the better.

  13. i am scottish and belive that scotland should be independant as england seems to be falling apart at the seams knife crimes,gangs,shootings,24 hour drinking in some places

scotland has its fair share of problems but.............independence for scotland

FREEDOMMMMMMMMMMMMM no just kidding  XD     =D

  14. One thing is certain, things cannot remain as they are!  Since devolution, England has had a raw deal- a democratic deficit within the Union- and that cannot continue!

If the UK is to continue in anything like its present form, England must have its own parliament- anything else will be unacceptable to the people of England!

That said, where we go from there is more of a problem.  Full independence for England is not a problem- nor probably for Scotland either.  Wales could probably cope, too.

But N Ireland is more of a problem, but this could be resolved if the people of N Ireland were to grasp the nettle of union with the South!  If there were no longer a United Kingdom to distract them, then that might well be easier to resolve.

Thereafter, as independent countries, it might be both possible and sensible for England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales to come together in some sort of Atlantic federation- to form a power bloc within the EU.

That may seem a strange idea at first, but despite our many differences, we still have much in common, sharing language, traditions, family ties, etc.  A new federation would allow us to come together as equals, and not as some see it at present, as parts of a union formed under duress.

With mutual respect between its several parts, a federation could bring a harmony not previously seen in these islands!

  15. yep, its about time Scotland and Wales financed their own "free prescriptions" "free parking" etc etc instead of robbing englands coffers. Lets erect some walls and have completely separate governments/monarchy. That goes for Cornwall too!
