Kids can't spell, parents can't raise their kids properly, violent crimes are up; people continue to amaze me with their stupidity.

  1. No.   Some of it is due to a lack of personal responsibility and accountability.  People believe that they can do what whatever they want and get away with it without any consequences for their actions.

As for kids spelling...why learn to spell if there is spell check?  Why learn grammar and punctuation if a computer can do it for you?  I grew up in an age when we had spelling tests, now all you have to do is come close to spelling a word correctly and the the computer will do the rest for you.

Today's kids are definately smarter and more technologically advanced than kids of 25 and 50 years ago.  I need a kid to explain to me how to do certain operations on a computer and how to program phone number into my phone and I have a masters degree.

The current problem and that of immorality, and a lack of of responsibility and accountability for one's actions.

  2. yes, it seems we are living in a stupid age.

i hope it changes soon.  :(

  3. Yes, we is porbably living in da stoopid age.

  4. No each generation is becoming smarter then the one previously.  Just take a look at how technology has advanced.  It's just that tech. is a good & bad thing.  Technology makes it easier for us to be lazy & use our brain less.

There are allways going to be kids that can't spell.  And today's parents (baby boom generation) are work aholics & have less time to raise their kids with the right principles.

Are we declining. . .i'd say no.  I think we can put some of the blame on the gov. and ourselves.

But then again it's all about how you measure intellgence.  IQ tests usually measure how well a person can creatively manipulate problems around them to solve equations.

So in Essence it's possible to be a genius and have a 3 grade education (see our first president).

But if you have all the intellegence and don't channel it in the right direction you're still a dumba** to me.

  5. No.  This has never been an issue from the past?

    Cain and Abel

    slavery

    genocide

These things have always been.  I'm not seeing the increase.  Nothing is really new.  Its all been done before.

  6. Obviously, look at all theses people asking questions! Stupid is an opinion. I dont think this age is stupid, i just believe that we are in the age of bad decisions. Look at all these people asking what to do when you have s*x with your gf? What happened to no s*x before marriage? The people are just getting more and more ignorant. Just dont pay attention to them, and keep your integrity.

  7. We certainly are.  In fact we are stuck on stupid. It all started about four decades ago when people began questioning everything, using slogans like, "If it feels good, do it", "Question authority!" etc..

It's not that I completely disagree with those views, I just think we have taken it to extremes. When I was in public school and when we had teacher/parent conferences, the parents would sit and listen objectively  to what the teacher had to say and then act on it to improve the behavior and education of their children. Today, parents rarely go to these conferences and when they do show up they threaten the teacher and the school district with a law suit because " she must have something against my little Johnny or else she would not be saying these terrible things." I've said it once and I'll say it again -- it's too bad that stupidity isn't painful

  8. Violent crimes are up? More than the time of war, just about 100+ years ago?

Kid's can't spell? Just about 100+ years ago, half of the kids didn't even go to school. Many couldn't even afford it so the kids stayed home and worked. In some places, the girls couldn't be educated even if they wanted to.

I do agree that having and raising children is less desired today than in the past. Many parents today wouldn't care if their children were dead or alive. Parenting skills are absolutely worse.

But generally, our "age" is as stupid as the past. Many things our ancestors did were extremely stupid.

  9. Absolutely. I'm beyond being disappointed at the stupidity of so many others. In fact, I regard it as a good thing... it makes it easier for me to succeed and provides me with endless entertainment!!

    EDIT:

Fair point raised by many others... people have always been pretty stupid! I guess I'm just taking the opportunity to rant about stupid people! :)

  10. Judging by 95% of the questions (and answers) on Y!A alone, I'd go with a YES!

Kids speak in text - parents can't discipline their children without fear of retribution.

  11. i think so..?

  12. i would have to answer....yes
