Are we more intelligent than our government leaders?

we will use the most familiar example first. Bush, idiot as he may seem, and as much as we like to believe our beloved comedy's on television, as long as we underestimate people in power such as himself and as long as we sit on our couches feeling high and mighty laughing at his startling eloquence we are doomed to have the economy that we are facing now. do your research before judging whether we should impeach him or not. watch a few videos on when he was governing texas, watch how alert and moving he could be. You think this could change overnight when he became president into the puppet we have all come to either hate or love? it's not just bush mind you. those of you who think that we have the power because we vote are in for a rude awakening come election time. should we vote based on on the lesser of two evils again and again? can we make a "change" without obama? we need to think above and beyond rising gas prices as our only economical problem liberal or not ask questions

  1. I couldn't tell you but it does appear you are of the belief that "you" are much more intelligent than most.

    Is that correct?

  2. We are more intelligent than our leaders, but we are not more intelligent than those who are giving the orders to our leaders.

There is no change coming with either McCain or Obama.  They are two of the same, with slightly different slants in who they pander to.  Elect either, you will get more of the same.  Ad nauseum.

The only hope for change is to elect candidates from THE third party, Libertarians,  to local and national offices.  Only they will bring the change that we need.. the change that Ron Paul preached..  the change that may possibly be able to save our nation, our own Rome in its last days.  The only hope is to return to constitutional law, free markets & non-intervention in world affairs.  Think JM or BO would ever dream of such radical ideas?  Nope.. they're business as usual.

Libertarians Bob Barr / Wayne Root '08

  3. Another Republicrat will be elected and we will continue on the same track.  Pity.

  4. Kiddy, Bush is very smart, Don't fall for the lies of the liberal press. Remember Bush's energy bill years ago? If that bill had been passed, we wouldn't be in the energy mess we are in now. And if Bush hadn't taken the war to the terrorists in their land, we would probably have lost a lot more civilians over here in the USA! The Bush tax cut got the economy moving (like tax cuts do). Ever since the democrats took over Congress, the economy has gone down; have YOU ever wondered why?

Yes, many of us are a lot smarter than the democrats that are in office, but few of us are smarter than many of the republicans that are in office.

  5. I dunno did you graduate from a Ivy league University?

  6. It's not a matter of intelligence, but rather of character.  I think that the system is so convoluted that even an honest person, with true concern for the people would be quickly corrupted, or manipulated.  I think that to become a politician in the first place requires a degree of personality flaw, and may be what makes so many of them so easily corruptible.

I don't think having an intelligent person is nearly as important as having a person of true character....they can rely on carefully selected advisers for the finer points and possible options in most situations.

  7. You make good points and your question is valid. I feel that the voting public is intelligent enough to make wise decisions BUT they have grown complacent and lazy.

The voting public has fallen victim to news channel sound bites, apathy, and hyperbole.

Every voter has the obligation to do real research. Every voter has the obligation to examine his or her own idea of what government should and should not be doing. Every voter has the obligation to look into the voting record of their representatives and the candidates for office. Every voter has the obligation to voice their opinion to their elected officials and the public at large.

By remaining silent, by voting for the lesser of presented evils, by not demanding accountability, we fall victim to our own apathy.
